This is a review for my stay back in May 2025. Great location and staff. Unfortunately this is the best/new hostel available in the area. I would argue that their price is competitive however not value for your buck.
Stayed in a 14 room female dorm and that is way too many people in a room, especially if there are not enough personal storage. Luggages were stored flat under the bed and the scuffing noise annoyed me to no end, especially because my roommates were mostly long term travellers with heaps of gear. Like other reviewers have pointed out, the beds sink and overall not comfortable as you also have to store your belongings on your bed (not enough space to stretch my legs). I was on the upper bunk and there was not enough clearance, and as a 5’2 girl I hit my head multiple times. No curtains is insane as their personal light is bright and it shines half the room when I had mine on.
I found that the number of toilets were sufficient however definitely need way more sinks and showers. You sometimes get 4 girls hogging the 2 sinks at one time with their items all over the place…makes it hard to wash your hands after the loo. No benches in the bathroom AND in the shower stall to place things means that people hang stuff over any available stalls, including hogging the shower when they were still using the mirror to remove makeup for example. Management might consider installing something like Tooletries’ shower mirror behind the shower doors…? The bathroom always feels warm and too moist as well…but the staff keep it clean, some girlies just have questionable hygiene standards (someone shaved their pubes over a toilet bowl and didn’t clean up, shut the lid and walked away?!).
Tl;dr Best place in the area to stay in however be prepared to exercise patience with...
Read moreI recently stayed at Bounce Hostel in Airlie Beach, and it truly stands out as one of the best hostels I've experienced. The rooms are not only clean and modern but the beds are the perfect size and incredibly comfy—I had some of the best sleep I've had in a while.
The location is spot-on, just a 2-minute walk from the main Airlie Beach strip with all the bars and restaurants right at your fingertips. It's the ideal spot if you want to be close to the action but still have a peaceful place to retreat to.
What really sets Bounce apart is how social it is. The open-plan kitchen is a great space to cook meals while chatting with fellow travelers, and there's plenty of seating outside to relax and make new friends. The vibe here is super friendly, and it's so easy to meet people.
The big projector screen outside is a unique touch—they play some of the coolest DJ sets I've ever seen, which creates an awesome atmosphere every evening. The staff are amazing too, so welcoming and eager to make sure you have the best stay.
Overall, I couldn’t recommend Bounce Hostel enough. Whether you’re looking to meet new people, enjoy great facilities, or just want a comfortable place to stay in Airlie Beach, this is the...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stayed at this hostel for two nights. It's very clean, the location is OK but we wouldn't recommend it. There are no sofas to rest on, except outside. The reception we had with an employee went well. But during our stay we wanted to drink a glass of wine in the kitchen (it's not stated anywhere that we weren't allowed), and the manager came rushing in to snatch the bottle and our glasses. We didn't even have time to put it away before she had it in her hands, as if we weren't capable of putting it away ourselves! Nonsense, we're adults like her. Then she tells us she's going to put it away behind the bar until we leave and leaves. 20 minutes later we see her on a table opening a bottle of wine and pouring herself a glass. The nerve! Telling customers not to do it, but doing it in front of customers - professional, isn't it? Anyway, it was a ridiculous scene that could have been avoided by posting the rules clearly, and we could have put the bottle away without drinking it. Just because we're younger than her doesn't mean we weren't able to understand, so for all these reasons I'm posting this review. Be careful, they're allowed to drink but...
