My husband and I decided at the last minute to go away over the Christmas holiday period. It was a couple of days before New Years and we thought we would have bucklies hope of getting in anywhere but thought we would try our luck anyway. We had friends staying at this park and so I looked up availability on the internet (we didn't think we would get anything until after new years). The website was showing a vacancy for a cabin so I rang straight away to confirm. I was advised that there was a vacancy. I told the guy that I would check with my husband and ring back if we wanted to book. I rang back 10 minutes later and made the booking (well so I thought). I provided my credit card details to secure the booking. Something happened whilst he was trying to make the booking and I had to provide the credit card details again. After providing my credit card details again I was advised that the booking was confirmed. So my husband and I spent 1.5 hours packing and 3 hours driving to Apollo Bay.
Upon arrival I went to the office to check in. I was greeted by Bruce. I told him my name and that we had a booking for a cabin. He told me no I didn't have a booking. My heart sank. I said yes I do. He said that I hadn't booked with his park. So I went through the chain of events with him. He recalled that I rang the first time and enquired about the cabin. He got very puffy chested and told me that I didn't ring back and book and that I must have booked with another park. He rang the other park in Apollo Bay and they didn't have a booking either. I called out to my husband who was in the car park with our friends to tell him what was going on. Bruce was very aggressive and loud towards my husband too as my husband backed me up about the 2 phone calls I made. Bruce made my husband I look like complete idiots in front of our friends and our children . Thankfully Bruce was able to pull a rabbit out of a hat and get us some accommodation so we didn't have to travel back to Melbourne.
Mistakes happen in life. I feel that Bruce should have been honest and said that his booking system failed and apologised. The way he reacted was completely unprofessional and over the top. When I got home I checked the call records on our home phone (where I had made the bookings from) and only the number of the Apollo Park Holiday Park came up.
Aside from the booking problem we enjoyed our stay. The park is very well kept and the facilities are great. We particularly liked the camp...

Read moreJust returned from 2 nights stay, it was overall good. For family of small kids it is best, with all kitchen facilities in the room itself (apart from one in the common swimming/gaming room area). My toddler broke one of the wine glass and while leaving when I informed that my toddler broke one to Bruce (owner) , he was like 'That's ok, that happens with toddler, no issues, nothing more to pay at all'. With such good response, I had to ensure that I also justify some goodness, hence I just gave him 5$ for the damage. Some things worthwhile to note - 6 minues walk to nearest Beach entry 15 mins walk to Apollo bay shops, food, park 87 kms to 12 Apostles/Gibson Steps Room has all cutlery stuff, gas cooking, AC (both for cold and summers) Laundry for longer stays is in a common room for use The swimming pool is small but still good Gaming room is an add-on, however each game inside is chargeable with 1-2 $ coin. For TT and Pool (Snooker) table , pay at reception for the ball(s) for collection
The only con I noticed was on wifi access in room, which never connected from room due to very low signal all time, believe this is specifically for rooms located towards far left (or even right)...
