This was our second stay at this park - for four nights this time - and we loved it. We had a two-bedroom cabin, and the kitchen gear and furniture all seemed new (I really liked the long couch). My son enjoyed the new playground and we both enjoyed the outdoor pool - heated enough for a dip even on a winter afternoon. There is an ice-cream/coffee van on-site and across the road is a general store with bottle shop and fuel. It's only a five minute walk to the cliff-top walking path, and steps down to the beach. What sets this park apart, for me, is the little things that the proprietors must do daily, like setting out the totem tennis pole near the camp-kitchen, and the colourful stepping-stones in the playground. Oh, and there are pots of herbs growing near the camp-kitchen, with a little sign inviting cooks to grab a pinch. Nice. On the rainy day of our trip we discovered the rec room: new couches and beanbags; neat jars of pencils and colouring pictures set out on the table; air hockey; and - joy! - an arcade game console (the sort we used to play space invaders on in the '80s), with two dozen games, that does not require coins! The intergenerational Pacman tournament went on for hours, and Mum went home with the highest score. It was a really fun stay. Below is the review I left on our overnight stay in June 2021. Spotlessly clean little cabin at a good price for the Great Ocean Road, and plenty of blankets for the very comfy beds. Melissa made sure the lights and heater were on for our arrival - nice! Very...
Read moreMy Son and I stayed in an Ensuite Cabin over the Australia Day long weekend. From booking through to departure Avys and the team were fantastic. We had a great time.
The cabin: it was basic as we expected but all the essentials were there. The ensuite cabin is as the price suggests, the next step up from camping. The shower and beds were fine and the TV was sufficient to watch the cricket and tennis. Whilst it didn't have air con, the breeze cooled the room down no problem.
The park: a small clean pool, bbq areas, camp kitchen and tv room. Other parks might have more features, but in summer the beach and river are the real attractions.
The beach: you can walk to an unpatrolled beach, but the beautiful patrolled Fairhaven beach is only a 2 min drive away. We spent half of our holiday there! Just perfect for body boarding and sunbathing.
The hosts: we couldn't have asked for any more. My Son's bike went missing on the night of Australia Day which was my fault for not chaining it up. Avys asked for a photo and made up some flyers to put at the shops. Within hours someone had located it near by and the nice young guy from the park went to pick it up. When we got back from our trip to the chocolate place, the bike was waiting for us. We were so grateful for everyone's help in getting the bike back. Especially given how busy they must have been on the long weekend.
Other: good fish and chips, brewery, cafes, mini golf, chocolate factory, tennis courts and bike riding near by.
A great trip. Thanks Avys and team....
Read moreWhat an absolutely disgraceful grab for money. I called to book, and it's not even peak season and no public holidays, and they want for 1 person $91 a night. For some grass and a shower $91 a night what a bloody joke and I love how they'll try and justify location or facilities but in reality I'm not using playgrounds or the small pool according to other reviews. Shame on parks like this. I really hope karma catches up with them.
It never fails to amaze me the ridiculous responses to a rating one gets when they try and justify ripping people off. I've spent the last 5.5yrs travelling around Australia and have stayed in countless caravan parks, but hello, these guys think we don't know what they offer. Give us a break the majority of people use their own facilities to cook and it's just a grass or concrete slab and a shower and next to no power that we use some don't even use your showers and they think they can justify $91 a night. It has been told to me by many including Tourist Information outlets that it is pure robbery because of the vast international visitors that do the Great Ocean Road so do not play the B.S rates and increases diarrhoea that you all use we are all part of the same system. It is a blatant cash grab no more, no less, as you do not offer anything more than the majority of all parks across the country.
You don't care about how hard most people are doing it with the cost of living and simple pleasures like a holiday you are cashing in on for your own greed. Shame on you and your...
