Had a lovely lunch at A La Grecque on the weekend. Nicely located and extremely busy on a sunday - every table full but not at all cramped! very spacious and welcoming environment. service was very prompt and attentive despite the full capacity of the restaurant. overall, all the food was very pleasant, fresh farm to table style and not overwhelmingly large or salty/oily portions you may receive at some greek restaurants. bread to start was lovely, generously paired with olive oil. entrees were all very pleasant, may favourite being the kefa cheese paired wiht sweet fig. the mains were also very fresh and nourishing, the fish being of extremely good quality, and all vegetables prepared neatly and tasty! the crispy potatoes were 10/10. for dessert we finished with the most perfectly light and sweet poached figs, a beautiful finish. on the pricier side overall but reflected in the beautiful fresh food, top location and friendly service. A la Grecque is one to visit! thankyou

Loved the Greek evidence, blue & white china, white wash, boss man talking loudly on the phone with hand gestures, tzatziki, baklava & ouzo, and all generations enjoying lunch. A colder day had the fire place lit. A menu of traditional offerings plus more, many suited to sharing. Spanakopita with labneh, had crisp filo and creamy filling. Slow cooked lamb on pita, ticked the box for really tasty. The fried local calamari was the awesomeness of the day. Thin strips including tentacles was so fresh & full flavoured, matched perfectly with tzatziki. Best I’ve eaten in a very long time. A dish that dictates a return visit, and sharing needs a rethink. Affogato finished off a wonderful meal, great service at what was evidently a local favorite. Make a booking & let your taste buds do a happy dance.

Oh, how I love A La Grecque! From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, I knew our family would be well taken care of. It’s rare to have such a perfect dining experience, especially on a 3hr+ road trip. Every dish was just to my liking, beautifully cooked and perfectly seasoned. The grilled kefalogravieria was outstanding, and we definitely could have ordered more of the basmati rice (I couldn’t find it on the online menu and forgot its exact name!). Even the asparagus was cooked perfectly. To the team at A La Grecque, you truly deserve the highest compliments. Thank you for an amazing meal!

The food itself was ok, I wouldn’t say it was the best Greek food I’ve had (I am of Greek descent and cook these dishes myself).

Quantities were poor, especially for the price. There was definitely not enough food to satisfy our table (this included friends of mine who are small eaters). We requested an extra serving of spanakopita because two servings was nowhere near enough for eight people (I’d call each serving adequate for ONE person). The couple opposite our table had one serving for two people. Maths states if you have one serving for two people, you’d need four servings for eight people (not two).

When we ordered desserts, we were told they had run out of both galaktoboureko and baklava - staple desserts of the Greek cuisine. Heavily disappointed that a Greek restaurant runs out of Greek desserts. Only one in our group had the baklava as it was the last one.

What entailed next completely ruined any chance of redemption. Upon checking the receipt at the front of the restaurant, we noticed we were charged for three baklavas when we only had one and for an extra plate of spanakopita. When we questioned this the manager stated “oh yeah I know you only had one” but he made no attempt to chase after us to rectify the mistake. We had to go in and question it, only then did the manager refund the two baklavas. Also, when was asked about being charged for the extra serving of spanakopita and stated the quantities were poor considering the couple in front of us had one serving between two and we should have had four servings between eight, the manager stated “you shouldn’t be looking at what other people have”.

Would I go back here? Absolutely not. Would I recommend this restaurant...

Heartbroken that this spot is not what it once was. I leave this review with a heavy heart! This place has been a regular spot for my family over the last decade. It’s really been the undeniable quality, fresh ingredients and incredible culinary skills we used to receive time and time again in the past that makes its current food so heartbreakingly disappointing. I’ve had some of the best meals of my life here. But The place has changed hands and given they kept the restaurant in the family we hoped the amazing meals and experiences would stay the same. Unfortunately, we went there for my 30th birthday in feb and the service was wonderful and friendly. But the food was nothing compared to what it once was. I’d be disappointed to receive those meals in a pub In the city if I’m brutally honest. I ordered the steak and it was very overcooked and the meat quality was average at best. They used to have ample entree menu items so the vegetarian members of my family could really enjoy the food too without having to resort to only one vego main and total lack of choice. They ordered the only veg dish from The main menu and it was pretty tasteless, especially strange because we ordered a similar eggplant entree dish which was probably the highlight of the entire meal. Mum ordered the lamb which was overly salty and also overcooked. The meals lacked balance and two of my family members ordered calamari as a main and received huge plates of deep fried calamari with a mayo based sauce but no salad or anything to balance out the meal. We all left feeling disappointed. I’m devastated to lose such a gem. It was better and easily rivalled some of the best places d 1in Melbourne. I doubt we’ll...

An absolute shockingly bad experience. A La Grecque was our last dinner on the Great Ocean Road, and is also the destination of my road trip here in Victoria. Seeing the amazing online reviews of the so called eatery, I had high hopes and excitement for my dinner experience that night. However, it was soon destroyed by the absolute disgrace of service. Food was reasonable (not great) and Service was NON-EXISTENT A La Grecque appeared to be a high end restaurant that is known for its delicate cuisine and high-end service. However, we were treated as your everyday “Maccas” customers throughout our dining experience. It was a windy night where we were placed outside, some of us were wearing shorts and t shirts. I understand that tables were booked, but when people left, we asked again if we could move inside, and we were rejected and told it was “to much of a fuss”. All things aside, when we finished our entrees, we were expecting the mains to be outside in at most 30-40 minutes. However, we were met with a waiting time of over 70 minutes as we were placed in the freezing breezes near the ocean. Honestly, our expectations for A La Grecque outlines an apology from the owner about the waiting time and the horrific attitudes of the waiters and waitress, but however, we got ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. When the service degrades, the taste of food degrades along with the service. The owner should study another uni course about hospitality and actually learn how to train his/her/their staff properly so that future customers and visitors will have a better experience. I am writing this is utter disappointment and it is honestly sad and sorrowful to end a day full of...
