Roey Backpackers & Party Bar — Hotel in Broome

One of the worst hostels I’ve probably stayed at in australia, considering the price you’re paying. Only redeemable thing is the location and the other people staying there. Kitchen is terrible, there was one electric cooker with 4 hobs for over 50 people living there. There were no cutting knives or chopping boards. The bathrooms were better but not by loads, there was one sink that didn’t work at all and one shower that came out with a trickle of water. The beds were super uncomfortable, could feel the metal bars underneath you all night, was terrible for your back. They clearly take advantage of the fact there’s no accommodation in Broome and they don’t care that they’re charging crazy prices for a hostel that’s poor quality. A very upset resident, I was at the Oasis bar, a aggressive and abusive French security guard verbally and racially abused us in the Oasis bar, knowing this is all part of the same group I approached the staff in the Roey to show them the video of the member of staff calling me horrid racist names? As a white English person I would hope they taught their staff a lesson in being professional.

Things are kind of old, perhaps they are deliberately left worn-out for an antiquated atmosphere. However, they are quite good for such a cheap hostel. Cooking, laundry, storage, etc. facilities are sufficient. Backpackers will find them useful for saving money. If one has something to spend, the nightclub, bar, restaurant, and alcoholic drink shop within the premise are quite useful. Some workers are passionate and helpful.
