We're from the wheatbelt in WA .We stayed in Broome, October 2023. The cinema itself is absolutely breathtakingly stunning... the character and the antiques.. the whole set up takes you back in time. We loved it

It was a Friday night the weather was beautiful, we were really looking forward to a Friday night horror movie under the stars. Bought some popcorn and settled in.

A younger crowd I assumed were locals mostly all headed in and found a seat. The chatter was loud but who cares movie wasn't on... until it was. 40 minutes we tolerated the loudest group of people that we couldn't even hear the movie over.

I very politely stood up and asked everybody to consider other people that were watching the movie... and asked if we could take it down a notch. A few people cheered and 1 young girl told me to F off. We gave it another 10 minutes and then left.

Very sad and disappointed in the younger gen.

Maybe an usher would help.

Watched a movie at this historic theatre. It’s a really once in a lifetime experience watching a current film in a rustic setting.

Seats are hammock type seating, pretty comfortable but a bit hard to get up after a couple of hours of sitting. Sound system was a bit patchy but you can still hear most of the conversation.

The interesting part was the grass patch in front of the screen, which was very popular with kids. They were literally screaming in with a bean bag in tow and grabbed their favourite spots there.

Refreshment kiosk has a popcorn stand and alcoholic drinks available too! It’s right next to the ticket booth, so you grab the food before going to any seat that you like!

There’s a visitor book in the theatre too, so you can leave your entry...

The cinema is around 100 years old, has a normal front but is only half covered (seating in & out) with an uncovered screen. Went along to the 8.30 showing (also a 6 or 6.30 movie & they are different at each showing & each night) and it was fantastic.

We had been warned that the chairs are a bit uncomfortable & to take a pillow & this was a good tip. The chairs are the old style swing back & little support. We elected to sit in the uncovered area but were warned to use insect repellant, rather than the covered area.

The screen is in good conditioned and the sound quite good considering outdoors.

There is a small canteen selling the normal fare. The old building also houses a bit of movie memorabilia.

Everybody loved...

We were very excited to come here as the cinema is in the Guinness World Records for being the worlds oldest cinema garden and it was so worth it! They have a candy bar there and surprisingly the chairs were comfortable but we did put a towel over our chairs which may have made it better. We didn’t experience any mosquitoes but we watched a late movie so we did try to cover up. You can purchase the tickets online or face to face in store before the movie. ā€œJonique Lifeā€ Follow our journey around Australia on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube as we highlight wonderful experiences and magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.
