Do not book too long ahead of your stay! Just make sure you do Not have a health issue within the 14 days of your arrival as there will be no refund! Not even for one night out of five booked, and not even if you are a faithful multi-returning customer! I have been to the hotel every year since it was purchased by the current owners (Ash Fleming and Brock Gardner) about four years ago. I did go to the hotel when under another management from mid-2018. I also went to the hotel when under the original management (Annette & John) eight times, some years twice in the year. Annette & John are to be fully recognised for the amazingly magnificent and comprehensive building works, architecture, and classy choice of design that turned an almost a derelict building to the truly unique gem that the hotel is now. I will always remember the 6pm daily room delivery of a home made sweet made by Annette and delivered to my room by John leaving a lovely homely smell in the hallway. Such a personalised lovely gestures leave indelible memories and create a bond between people. As consumed professionals they were always discreet too. Prior to this hotel, Annette & John managed a bed & breakfast for 15 years and they knew the hotel business inside out, but, this was a Lot More than a Business for them. They actually lived in the hotel. Despite I immediately communicated with hotel about my health (taken to emergencies) and despite it was the First Time Ever, that I had to change my arrival date in the hotel, I was naturally expecting that given the number of times I had been there under this management, i will get a refund for the Thursday night. Well, i was dead wrong! Whether you are a faithful multi-returning customer or not, whether you have an unexpected health reason or not, whether you comply with their request to remove your review They have a business to run, don’t they? I was told:” i do not do refunds, maybe, we’ll see what we can do on your next stay.” I was shocked by the tone of voice used to say:”I Don’t...
Read moreFrom the moment we stepped over the threshold of this beautiful home we felt as if we had been transported into a dreamscape. A bygone era of elegance, craftsmanship, sumptuousness, substance and high standards. Our room (5) had magnificent water views of a marina, Mt Wellington to the West and a majestic conifer in the garden. A perfect platform for viewing the ever changing beauty of our surroundings. At night we were treated to a fairyland panorama of twinkling lights and Wrest Point Casino illuminated in jewel like colours. No expense has been spared when attending to sensory indulgence - plush bath robes, fluffy bath sheets, scented botanical bath salts, organic botanical hair products, calming aromas. The signature cakes materialise in the afternoon and it is well worth hot footing it back from your wanderings to indulge in these mouth watering heirloom creations. The apple crumble cake is sensational. Many thanks to the cooks in the background. Breakfast is included. I loved the creamy Tasmanian yoghurts and freshly stewed fruit. GF muesli was a winner too. The common areas are beautifully decorated and furnished. I loved sitting by the fire in the evenings with a warm drink. Snuggling into the king sized bed and gazing at the historical church on the hill and Mt Wellington beacon was a delightful prelude to sleep. Our hosts Brock and Ash were charming and attentive as were all staff we encountered. Battery Point is a stunning location. So much to see and do even by foot The highlight of our trip however was the Grand Vue Hotel and the exceptional service extended to us as guests. Thank you so...
Read moreMyself and 3 girlfriends spent 3 restful and luxurious nights at this beautiful property. I’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels in my life including across Europe, and this property outdoes them all! Our expectations were exceeded in every way; no detail has been overlooked. The accomodation is perfectly situated in Battery Point with expansive views up to Mt Wellington and across the harbour and is only a short 10-minute to town. There are a handful of very sweet cafes, restaurants and boutiques a stones-throw from the accomodation, allowing you to mosey around the area at your leisure. The heritage of the property has been preserved with contemporary styling touches added. There are three communal spaces plus the kitchen where we spent many hours drinking hot chocolate, tucking into the various desserts that were provided, sitting by the fireplace, petting Jackson the dog and playing board games. As a self-proclaimed perfectionist and someone who obsesses over aesthetics, it’s is extremely rare (ask my friends and family) that I can’t find a floor- such was the case with this stay. The owners of the property were warm, lovely and extremely generous and attentive; every request was catered for and nothing was too much of an ask. In all honesty, I’m almost reluctant to provide such a glowing review as, selfishly, we would have loved to have kept this as our little secret. We all individually and as a group have no doubts that we will return to this...
