I cannot understand the negative reviews regarding Salamanca Wharf Hotel. We have just returned from 19 nights split up by a week in Queensland. I must say that it is ideal for that purpose with a good sitting area/kitchen, great bathroom and bedroom. We had two rooms - a street facing room with balcony on the 2nd floor forbour first week, followed by a rear facing room on the 3rd floor, no balcony, for the second stay. Both were good but the first one did lack good cupboard space in the bedroom. Some balcony furniture would have been nice.||Both rooms had a washer/drier in the bathroom which is essential when you are away for a month. ||The car stacker for free parking is a very good facility as long as the car isn’t too big. No charge for this which is great. It is perhaps a little slow sometimes but you learn to adapt to this.||The cafe is a great facility to have onsite, and the proximity to Salamanca and the rest of Hobart is great. It’s true that it doesn’t have good views, but that isn’t essential for us. ||The beds good be bigger, but that would be my only comment.||Staff very friendly and helpful, especially housekeeping. ||If you are on a short stay then perhaps this isn’t the right place, but it was perfect for us - like having your own apartment. Can’t imagine staying anywhere else...
Read moreI would more than happily recommend the Salamanca Wharf Hotel. We have a Penthouse room, actually the one they show on their website, it is absolutely beautiful. It may not have views of the water but the trees outside the main windows are lovely, providing a relaxing backdrop. The bed is large, soft and inviting with a huge bath set to the side of the bedroom. The living area is not over furnished, giving the area a very spacious feel. The lounge is very comfortable and the kitchen area has everything you need. The bathroom is large with the best shower I have ever used, it is spacious with 2 shower options, one shower head on the side wall and one from the ceiling, I really love it. A separate toilet is also nice and spacious. It is very clean with personable staff. The location is great especially if you happen to have a leg injury. No stairs or hills on your way to Salamanca Place, which is just behind the property. Breakfast and lunch are served downstairs in the cafe, we went for breakfast and ended up buying dinner there to heat up in our room. It really is the perfect...
Read moreYou would struggle to get a better located hotel in Hobart than Salamanca Wharf. 2 minutes from the markets, Battery Point up the stairs behind you, and the waterfront and city all within 10 minutes. Rooms are big and bright and there’s everything you need for a long stay, including a fully equipped kitchen and washer/dryer. The car stacker was great to use, and once explained a simple task, and so good to be able to just leave the car there for free and walk the city. There’s a café in the foyer, but we preferred Salamanca Cream a few doors up, which had awesome coffee and pastries. Service here was friendly and helpful, though the front desk was not staffed for much of the week. There’s a superb, though pricey grocery story in Salamanca nearby. Rooms were super quiet, and the bathroom was big and clean. The one gripe is the almost total lack of closet space. There was a single, minuscule area for hanging clothes, which could only be reached by a basketballer with long arms – very bizarre. Highly recommended for a longer stay with great access to...
