Good points: ambiance, attentiveness of staff

Neutral points: needs better covid safe process - not good enough to have a sheet just at the cash register. Meal took ages.

Bad points: i clearly chose very poorly because the chili jam eggs and avocado with haloumi chips breakfast is one of the worst meals I've ever had. I would say it was inedible but i ate it all because i was so hungry after waiting so long. The key for why it was so terrible was that there was absolutely no thought put into the overall flavour balance and style of the dish. It just seemed like a bunch of terrible ideas put into one awful dish. The "chili jam" (read: sickly sweet chili sauce) slathered ontop of poached eggs was a particularly revolting aspect. I had assumed the chili jam would be more complex in flavour, like Thai or Malaysian style with a nice balance of umami, salty and sweet. It should be on the side so you can choose the amount. The halloumi "chips" were also not what i was expecting- since they were crumbed and deep fried - more like a croquette. Halloumi never tastes good like this - it would be far better to have the pieces pan fried and sliced like chips. Aesthetically and in terms of flavour. The avocado was boring and plain. The rocket was merely a dry garnish.

I sincerely hope you take the advice for remedying...

Finally 🙏 It’s Winter in Hobart .some like it some don’t .now that goes for both “winter” and Hobart “😂… Upon entering giddy up you Instantly feel WARM. That’s 2 stars so far out of 5 . Sooo many places here get that fundamental wrong . Not here 🙏 Coffee is way smooth and moorish now we are up to 3 of those stars 🕺 The Ambience is relaxed , chic and this is partly due to the funky soft music that pipes through the cafe wow now we are at 4 stars and counting … Food ? I hear you ask ? Or think?😂… very generous in this department , made with absolute passion and of course a ton of love .excellent and creative dishes I don’t think I’ve ever seen in Hobart or even Sydney for that matter . I’ve talked to all the staff on my visits here, I can honestly tell you they are beautiful gentle people who love what they do and enjoy helping to assist others in feeling good about themselves ❤️ The Cheff’s are terrific polite and passionate.Barristers are also amazing people 🌈 This sort of enthusiasm and environment is very addictive and positive. That’s the 5 th star folks … You can’t lose here at Giddy Up. Ime giving then an extra star as it is so deserved of this establishment and the groovy but unpretentious people who make it all happen with...

I've been a regular at Giddyup Cafe for a fair while now and I've always enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere and top-notch coffee. Unfortunately, my last visits there on the weekend were not as great as usual.

First off, the chef seemed a bit off his game. Instead of focusing on the dishes, he was having a chinwag, which was pretty loud, to be honest. It's all well and good to have a yarn, but not when it affects the food quality.

Speaking of the food, me Eggs Benedict were overcooked, and it tasted like the wrong sauce was used. The mushrooms in the dish were undercooked too, which was a real bummer. It's a bit disappointing to see the quality of the tucker slip like that, especially since it's always been ace in the past.

So, here's my two bob's worth of advice for the Giddyup Cafe - I reckon the chef should brush up on his skills a bit and pay more attention to what he's doing in...

Harry and the team were amazing, the waitresses were friendly and helpful, the chef was quick to grab our phones and take photos without us even asking. Food and service were beyond awesome, we were made to feel so welcome! We were a group of 10 with most doing the bottomless brunch, those that weren't were treated so well compared to other locals restaurants offering bottomless brunch. The food was amazing, the majority of us had the Giddy up big breakfast, there were also chilli jam eggs, waffles and pork benedict ordered, every one was happy with what they ordered, and even discussed what we will have at our next visit. We do a bottomless every 6-8 weeks, and Giddy up will certainly be a regular for us!

An epic breakfast experience. My fiancé and I are currently staying in Hobart and upon recommendation from our Uber driver a few days ago, decided to walk up to Sandy Bay from Salamanca and choose a breakfast spot. We ordered coffees first up and it was hands down one of the best coffees of my life (which beans are you using?!). The service was fantastic and the breakfast (potato croquettes with avo and pico de gallo) was honestly fantastic. I added crispy bacon and chilli jam and created one of the best brekkies I’ve ever enjoyed! Worth the 30 minute walk each way. Thanks heaps guys. Brownie points for cooking the bacon exactly how I like it too - never happens!

Had breakfast here with a big group. Made an appointment earlier before coming. Parking is available on side roads. Staff is attentive and helpful. Ambiance of the place is quite nice, but the some of the poor succulent plants may do well with some water 😀 Menu consists with varieties of food mostly ranging from Eggs and SD toasts. Hot and cold drinks available. Food is awesome and very appeasing to see. I cleared my plate soonest. Really recommended.
