I took the family down the beach today for fathers day fish and chips. After walking from the beach and having to wait an extra 20m for my order I got back to the beach and found they conveniently forgot to put the fish in our order. We normally share a peice of fish and share the chips so it was not just me that was disapointed but also my wife when all we had was chips to eat. I rang to and asked for a refund and was first told I could only be offered store credit lol. Nicely I asked I would prefer a refund they said ok. I did not get any sort of appology I felt like I was inconveniencing them for calling and asking about them forgetting one of the main parts of a fish and chips order. Anyway so I went and got my refund I was hoping they would try to say sorry and offer something to try and bring me back but all they did was refund me the exact price of the peice of fish and still I didnt even get an appology. They also had to give me cash because there was a queue and they did not want to make anyone wait in the queue while they used the eftpos machine to credit me back.
I am sure their food is good but what makes a good place brilliant is when mistakes happen they still keep the customer happy this place does not do this.
Suggestion for the owner if they read this. Take customers phone numbers so when you do find that part of a customers order you can go oh who just picked up and is missing their peice of fish and call them straight away so they can come back. secondly when you do make a mistake refund their entire order or say hey next time you order form here I will throw in a free peice of fish and I will come back.

Read moreThe prawns tasted really fresh, you know that feeling when the shell peels right off the skin and the prawn is delicately firm, then you dip that bad boy in some lemon/vinegar and get that juicy zesty tang with that lovely flavor of the sea. I ordered their oysters as well and while I highly enjoy oysters, they would benefit from being cleaned a bit better. That oysters were a good size and they tasted like if an oyster swam in butter and puffed up just right to be juicy enough to chew on but slimy enough to slurp off the shell. It's a big texture immersion break when I bite a piece of the shell but that's part of oyster dining so I'll give it 4 stars.
Staff were nice but there's not much else staff can be when we're the only people to serve anyway but yeah 5 stars. The tables were a little bit stickyicky from the last guests but it's not big deal really I...

I would have to say the whole of q.l.d, being a chef and also being fussy with what i eat even as a kid lol, i have sampled quite a few fish shops in qld and this by far is the best, and i have to say over the 15 odd years plenty of people have tryed with this prime spot to give it a good go off things,a few different names, styles ect, but only one name has now has finally got it right and thats TOBINS...
