Recently, my hubby and I stayed in Oaks Sunshine Coast Seaforth Resort in Alexandra Headlands. Reception staff were very nice in greeting us. They provided a map of the resort and where our unit was in the complex. The property is a little dated but clean and comfortable, conveniently located in a strip of shops.
Our unit, on the 5th floor, didn't have a fry pan nor an egg lifter in the kitchen we had. This meant I had to cook our bacon and egg breakfast in a saucepan. I used other utensils to get the eggs out of the pot. The kitchen had a bigger fridge than expected and tea and coffee facilities with an electric jug provided. There was long life milk in the fridge. I'd paid for an ocean view, which wasn't as close as I'd hoped, because you could see it but in the distance over some palm trees. Other than this, I loved our room with king size beds. Our balcony was overlooking the swimming pools, which were really lovely and surrounded by a series of other unit buildings, resort style. There was an outdoor setting for if you like to eat or enjoy a drink outdoors too on the balcony.
Our room had a spa bath, which helped both hubby and I relax and enjoy our time there. The air-conditioner was very efficient and not too noisy. We had 2 keys for the apartment, which was just as well because we couldn't open the door too easily. Security was great as you needed to use the fob for entry and elevator use.
We utilised the courtesy bus to go to the Maroochy Surf Club for dinner only about 5 mins away. They had lovely gluten free options, which definitely helped me being a Coeliac. The bus picked us up and dropped us back to our door at reception. Peter the driver was very nice and courteous too. I arranged this through the club, not the resort on the day of our dinner booking.
There is off street parking out front of reception. I did have fun trying to park our massive ute underneath the resort when we arrived, but with a bit of careful manoeuvring, I managed to fit. And we just fit our massive vehicle under at 2.1m in height. Regular vehicles should have no trouble. Each unit has their own car park space. I definitely liked this for security reasons. You access the complex via the elevator from the basement car park and ground floor with your key fob.
I would stay with them again but would probably take my own cooking implements next time to be sure. When I informed reception at leaving of the cooking issues, the lady wasn't aware of the frypan being missing...
Read moreLack of communication. I had put down I was going to be arriving between 6-7pm as we were travelling from a fair distance, the hotel staff called and said 645 was a little late as they close at 7 so wanted payment over the phone, that’s fine I thought with paperwork etc I understood. I had also asked for 2 cots (multiple times) and was told they’re $20 each per night, okay I guess I need to, however when confirming this the next person to reply again said they would put it on the file and then eventually the third when I asked if cot bedding was provided or if I needed to bring some all that was replied was “yes”, um? Yes to what? Bring bedding or they have it? keep in mind this was when we were already 3 hours into the drive up there and I’d asked the question early that morning. Anyway we had booked a 3 bedroom apartment, we arrive and head to the room after check in. Kids were buggered, adults equally wrecked. No cots, and 2/3 bedrooms were locked with no access.. call reception after hours and housekeeping arrive shortly after, “oh you must have only just booked this today then” no, we had it booked 6 weeks ago. She brings cots up and no they don’t come with the mattresses, they’re portacots with the hard base. She tells us to use some of the blankets to make a mattress for the babies and then asked if we had paid the fees for the cots, I told her I had prepaid over the phone on way as reception told me 645 was too late. She returns to say she couldnt access the file and would let us know. On top of this, the wifi has a cap, you can’t connect to more than 3 devices. The shower had visible mould. The heating didn’t work, if you want to access the pool area via your courtyard from the back of your unit you have to duck under red flags for no apparent reason, oh make sure you take your own food, a quick pop into the continence store will set you back a lot more than you think! Hit up coles first! The place is beautiful and a great location but I just can’t warrant the amount of money we spent for...
Read moreBooked a 1 bedroom apartment on Priceline and received a 3 bedroom apartment (with 2 rooms not available for use). The benefit for us was the lounge and kitchen were sized for a 3 bedroom apartment so it was all very spacious. Teh bed was super comfortable, air con in the lounge and the bedroom. Full size fridge and a washing machine and dryer. Large balcony. Just a great apartment.||We were on the 3rd floor, so no view of the ocean (you need to be at least level 4 for a good ocean view). But, I loved this place. ||The complex had 2 pools - a lagoon pool and a proper pool - amazing grounds, really loved the feel of the complex. ||Grocer, coffee shop, bottle shop and pub right outside the complex so you didn't have to go far if you didn't want to. 5 minute drive to Maroochy or Molooloba if you need to - not really walking distance. Beach is right across the road - but the Alexander Headlands life saving club swim flags are a little walk up the beach. ||Check in was a bit of a disaster - arrived 15 minutes after reception closed (around 7pm) and the night manager wasn't answering her phone. Had to stand out in the cold for 30 minutes trying to call the head office and find a way to get someone to give us the keys. I would have expected that since we were the only check-in for the day that hadn't arrived by reception closing that they would have arranged something - but no, the night manager just didn't answer their phone. Wasn't a great start to the stay, but that was the...
