We stayed nearby to La Petite Souris for our recent holiday. All 4 of us went nearly every day of our stay and loved the pastries and coffees (finally found a barista that knows how to actually make coffee!) Our favourites were the Gorgonzola and Prosciutto quiche as well as the Pretzel Baguette. The sweat treats looked delicious we unfortunately didnāt try any as weāre all savoury lovers. The service was okay, you can tell the front of house staff were all young, likely their first jobs so were not exceptional, blasĆ©. We did find it odd that on the Saturday we went they were starting to pack down at 12pm despite their closing time at 2pm, the chairs and tables were all stacked, we had to walk around a team member who was sweeping and preparing to mop, all the racking trolleys were out front for the kitchen to clean. It felt like we were being a nuisance to order, Iāve never seen anywhere start pack down 2 hours before closing. The atmosphere does let down the food massively, such amazing pastries amongst old sticky wooden/plastic tables...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs soon as we booked our Sunshine Coast holiday Airbnb in the Alexandra Headlands area, I knew I'd be hitting up La Petite Souris, thanks to seeing it featured multiple times in a friend's IG stories.
Unfortunately I'm not enough of an early bird to get there in the morning, so only managed to drop by around noon to pick up some items to supplement some other food our group already had lined to for lunch. Some things like the sausage rolls had sold out by then, and there were only 2 pies left.
Items we sampled: almond croissant, 1 plain and 1 chocolate, $6.50 each danish, 1 rhubarb and 1 pear, $6.50 each pies (can't remember what the difference was in the two we got), $8 each
It would be another 40-odd minutes before we walked the food home and sat down to eat these baked goods along with the rest of our lunch. The pastries were still pretty good but next time I'll want to
get there earlier on an emptier stomach without so much sharing eat my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a great surprise this place is. It is the line-up out the door which first brings your attention to La Petite Souris. Once inside you begin to see its popularity is justified. A diverse spread of patisserie goodness and other baked delights that is reminiscent of European cafes. The quality is accounted for and the service is fantastic even during peak weekend morning service. The shop is completely open giving customers complete transparency on how the food is prepared. Kids watch with noses pressed against the glass as the pastry chef creates new delights in front of their eyes. Of particular mention is the gourmet pies, the perfect flaky croissants, and the delicious coffee which is served in a biodegradable cup if you are ordering takeaway. This is your go-to breakfast stop in Alexandra Headland....
