Stayed here twice. A cost-effective hyatt (this regency is C4) that outcompetes its adjacent rivals in its location and performance - first impression aesthetically, it is essentially as Hyatt as the spacious, confidence yet unpretentious and not overtly extravagant decor of the lobby, with an emphasis on balancing the warmth of sandstone and timber fittings. Walkable to all major attractions, shopping centres and public transports if you’re here for vacation (park Hyatt would be much better if seeking a proper vacation accommodation, the only C8 in Australia). C/I is attentive, friendly and efficient. (If correct this Hyatt has two Les Clefs d'Or concierge staff), large enough setback space for drop off/pickups unlike the Brisbane regency. Though guest service could be a bit impatient, however room delivery is expedient. Regency club here is not busy, good service, nice harbour-facing views and as you expected, serves continental breakfast and conventional beverages. Standard guest room: Simple, clean, functional. Parts of the room has been updated, switches and controls are considered and responsive, though some usb ports maybe defective. Window is clean with good acoustic insulation even facing harbour side. Two layers electric curtain with individual controls (probably not silent gliss?) Over-use of marble (especially the table) and perhaps naval elements in the room to complement darling harbour, which may diverts the conventional Hyatt-aesthetic (earth tone, warmth, minimal, quiet). Mini-bar and closet are compact yet well-organised and packed with all essentials (and clearly listed), no espresso machine. Bathroom is small, very functional like Hilton, no shower curtain or glass door which is similar to most apartments bathroom in Sydney. Lighting is not too bad, better user-controls than Sheraton, bedding is made better than one of the Sofitel’s (thumbs up for housekeeping team). Electronics: The Bittlephone handset (used in most Hyatt hotels), is not stable as always. No Bluetooth speaker (even Hyatt centric had one), cute quartz clock with simple alarm function. TV has a pivotal rack, but chromecast is broken… Gym has nice views and adequately spaced equipments (a combination of technogym and life-fitness gears, clean and new), good ambience and flooring finishes, however only has one bathroom with integrated shower/changing room, which is rather confusing. Zephyr bar is a highlight of this hotel, semi-open air lounge space, high-floor unobstructed views of darling harbour make this a good spot for Saturday fireworks. Restaurants are average, sailmaker is good with close-distance view of darling harbour, which complements breakfast despite rather ordinary selection of foods.

Our family of four booked two rooms for two nights at the Hyatt Regency Sydney. Unfortunately, our first impression of the hotel service was quite poor. We landed in Sydney and arrived by taxi at the hotel around 9:30 AM. At the front desk, the receptionist explained that according to policy, check-in is only possible after 3:00 PM. However, he offered us the option to take two rooms on the 2nd floor immediately, or wait until 3:00 PM for rooms on a higher floor. We decided to wait, left our luggage with the hotel, and went out for lunch. When we returned at 2:30 PM, we were given one room, but were told the second room would only be available at 3:00 PM. At 3:00, we went back to the desk and were given the second room — but it was on a different floor than the first. After we complained, we were asked to wait again while the staff tried to arrange it. Only after about 20 more minutes were we finally given two rooms on the same floor, which was much more convenient for our family. Another disappointing experience happened at check-out. I realized there was no luggage scale in the hotel, so I called room service to borrow one. The first staff member (male voice) told me someone would bring it to my room right away. After waiting more than an hour, no one came, so I called again. This time, a female staff member answered and promised again that someone would bring it soon. After another 30 minutes with no response, I called a third time, only to be told — with an apology — that the hotel does not provide a luggage scale at all. In total, I made three calls and waited nearly two hours just to be told that what I requested was not possible. What surprised me most was that the staff never proactively called back to update me. If something cannot be provided, I believe the hotel should inform guests clearly and promptly, rather than letting them wait endlessly. Overall, these experiences left us with a very disappointing impression of service at the Hyatt Regency Sydney. Will not come back to this Hotel again

Probably one of the worst hotels you could possibly stay at. A 2 start hotel, pretending to be 5 stars and charging 5 star prices. Not worth it.

It was a total comedy of errors and gives Hyatt Group a really bad name. This is my first time at a Hyatt hotel and if this is what a Hyatt hotel is like I will never be back.

I had booked it for a month previously but could not come, so I cancelled and booked again for the following month. They did not cancel on their end my first room which in my account was cancelled and it took me 40 minutes to convince some Filipino outcall centre that I could not split myself in two and that I only needed one room. He then tried to charge me more which I refused and then basically made out that he was doing me a favour by cancelling my room and not charging me. Really! It was your fault in the first place.

Then there is Zephyr bar who never answer their phones. The previous month which I had cancelled I made a booking there which is a really scam. They tell you that they get really busy (which they do) and that if you are a walking on a weekend you might need to wait a while to get in. But if you make a booking you must spend $160. So people book in, have a couple of cocktails before dinner and then get scammed out of $120 which they have not used. Luckily, I talked to the manager of the hotel and she waived the $160 and I paid only for what I used. Zephyr bar also gave us two free prosecos because I had complained that the previous month, they cancelled my booking there. I had already cancelled the hotel but they were not made aware and they cancelled the bookings because it would seem that they are in the habit of doing so if they get a bigger party.

Then on arrival, the valet ignored me and I had to call him over. I was then told that I had to go and park my own car. But aren't we pretending to be 5 stars?????? So I had to pay $55 and do all the work myself.

Now for checking. The rude person on the front desk asked me what was wrong because I said that the guy at the other counter could not do the whole job, just did the luggage and booked me in but I had to come to the other counter to get the room key. So I told him all that had happened so far and his answer instead of being "that is terrible, I will look into it. I am so sorry, this is not the image we want to present" was " Well its not my fault or my colleagues fault". No apologies, nothing.

I had paid for a room upgrade to a balcony with harbour view. I got 2 plastic chairs on a rusty skinny balcony barely the width of a person and a rooftop view. Still trying to figure out where harbour is. See photo below. Would you pay for an upgrade of rooftops? When I complained to the manager I was told that I was on the 6th floor and that people on the 4th floor had even lesser view.

Then you have the riff raff staying at this hotel. Not quality clientele. Very low class and uneducated. They do not dress appropriately for the location and even when going to venues such as high tea, they yell, disturb other patrons and have no social awareness whatsoever.

Breakfast was terrible. If I am staying at what is supposed to be a 5 star hotel, I do not expect to line up in a queue for 20 minutes waiting to get into breakfast like I am at the YMCA. Bacon overcooked, pancakes dry as a bone and not really a pancake. See photo below.

Then in morning at 9 o'clock, house keeping knocked on the door to do the room. I explained that I had a late checkout at 11 am and she told me that I was already registered as checked out.

I have had time to eat breakfast, write this and am still waiting for my coffee. It probably will never arrive.

If this is the standard of a Hyatt hotel, this has been my first and last time ever. Just not good enough for what I paid. Do Better Hyatt, do...

I have had a great experience staying in Hyatt branded hotels around the world, both for work and pleasure. So I thought my 10yo daughter's first trip to Sydney (18 to 23 June 2025) ought to be a special one.

Sadly, the anticipated 5 star experience turned out to be a 5 star motel experience.

Here is a list of why: complimentary water was a water dispenser at the lift lobby, which only dispensed cold water and ice. You can boil your own water but the water supply in the rooms are not filtered. I WAS INFORMED BY THE STAFF THAT I DID NOT QUALIFY FOR COMPLIMENTARY MINERAL WATER. Hotel was informed that the flush did not work, for the entirety of my stay. I had to toggle it multiple times EACH TIME I USED THE TOILET for the flush to work and for the water to stop flowing. Hotel was informed that the towel rack fixture was loose and remained unfixed for the duration of stay. Shower head is fixed and not movable by much. it runs cold when flushing. liquid soap dispensers were allowed to run empty. used cups and utensils were not removed from room and stay unremoved for 2 days. they were finally removed when I couldnt take it any more and moved them outside the room. Inexplicably, there was a cup of water left at my doorstep for 4 days. Amenities drawer had only 1x sanitary pad, 1 x cotton buds, 1 x shower cap. When I asked for a shaving kit, I was promised one, only to be told that the hotel has run out of them. I was then told by a staff (Who did not identify himself) that I should purchase my own from the inconvenience store across the street. Eventually, I was provided with one that seemed to be taken from another hotel, which did not work so well. recovery was bad. Although i was on a vacation and in the hotel, the management chose to email me 2 days into my stay. I only found out about the potential remedies only 4 days into my 6 days stay. Subsequently, I was offered a discount on my stay, only to have the counter staff at checkout refute it and claiming that the stay was only for ONE day out of the whole stay. It was only sorted out after i left the country. the TV was fritzing throughout my stay and at one point, the visual and audio were not insync. At this point, I got too tired to complain any more and resigned myself to my fate. when i booked the room, i asked for and was promised a king sized bed. Instead, I got 2 single beds pushed together. You cannot sleep well in the middle of 2 single beds pushed togehter. I was only offered a change much later in my stay.

IN ALL HONESTY, i have had much better from other branded hotels under the Hyatt banner, even though these hotels (such as Alia) are supposed to be at a lower price point than the Regency ones. I'd hate to think that it was because i was East Asian ethnicity and not Australian.

My friends from Canberra stayed at the Aspire, which was at best a 2 star hotel or very high end motel. We compared notes and found that there was little to no difference between our experiences, other than the breakfast buffet, which must be paid for, and the amount i paid for the stay. It shook my faith in the Hyatt brand and made me reassess. I will definitely NOT choose Hyatt in Australia.

Unfortunately my partner and I did not have an enjoyable stay for 2 nights (8/06/2024 and 9/06/2024) due to the following issues.

We specifically requested preference for a quiet room (this is in our reservation history) however was somehow allocated to a room (room 1528) right next to the elevators, where there was constant noise from the high foot traffic with footsteps and people talking close outside our room. On the second night we even had to call reception multiple times at around midnight to send security due to people talking loudly and vaping right outside our room in the elevator area (this is in your hotel call history). When we first entered our room we also noticed that there was a second single bed in our room we didn't request, which was most likely requested by another customer who required it for a family reservation - meaning that the room we were allocated was actually initially meant for someone else, however they probably also complained about the room being next to the elevators so the room ended up being allocated to us instead without any communication or notice. We discussed the suspected room change with a lady at the reception who also agreed that was likely what happened and apologised, however there was no other follow-up for our concern and just an apology isn't enough for 2 nights of disrupted sleep that could have been avoided if the room allocation was planned appropriately especially when we requested for a quiet room (it would not be possible for every reservation in our room category to have also requested for a quiet room).

The breakfast buffet was poorly managed on the days we stayed, with long lines from the restaurant entrance all the way to the hotel entrance (difficult to visualise without seeing but I would estimate the line to be around 100 metres long with at least 50 people). This meant there was limited time for people waiting in line including us to eat after being eventually seated. I understand the staff are trained to upsell this breakfast buffet during check-in which was what happened to us, however there should be a cap on the number of people or alternatively a sufficient extension of the finishing time to allow everyone to eat without feeling rushed. Although the food did end up being decent, we did not have enough time to eat when we were finally seated after waiting for a long time in the line so we didn't even get to try much of the food before having to leave.

Overall this was a negative experience mainly due to the constant excessive room noise interrupting our sleep and stay, which was caused by poor room allocation and planning without appropriate communication or compensation for near certain changing our room, as well as poor management of the breakfast buffet. This was supposed to be a relaxing stay to enjoy the Vivid events, but we were not able to like we wanted as we could not properly rest in our poorly allocated room from the noise. We have also provided this feedback in the 'Share Feedback on a Recent Stay' section on the official website to see if receive an...
