Expectation was set super high before the stay as the cafe downstairs has long been the favourite. Design was as good as expected. Room was on the smaller side but comfy enough. We overall enjoyed the stay as part of our NYE celebrations except for some disappointment.
Firstly, the Sunny room doesn’t look like what was shown on the official website at all. While the Sunny room on website looks bright and has huge windows on two sides, with brick walls, which I immediately felt in love. But the room we got was just a normal hotel room and is very dark, all day. After observing the floor plan, we reckon there’s only one room each floor, which is on the very end, that is like website, the rest four same sized Sunny rooms shares the dark narrow balcony. We didn’t ask for change but we do think they should put the pictures of both versions on website. I’m not saying the design is bad but it’s just doesn’t have the character as shown on website and it actually looks exactly like QT hotels. I won’t book the category if I had known the room would be like this.
Secondly, though we have super low standard for services but seriously the team here, including cafe, presents certain attitude, which kinda amused us. But still We were luck enough to meet some nice staffs. Anyway, it’s not a big issue cuz we didn’t walk pass them a lot, and we didn’t asked for anything from them. People have different preferences for the vibe but not our cup of tea here.
Lastly, walls are thin, we can hear people walking upstairs and I believe people downstairs can hear us, too. Also every morning we were woke up by the cleaning team on corridor. Maybe it’s our fault to wake up...
Read morePerfect central location with easy access to basically everything. If you want a cool aesthetic hotel to post cool, hipster social media content, this is the place for you. With eateries like AP Bakery, Poly and Paramount Coffee Project literally in the same building, you can't go wrong. ||But if want more than that. Like say, peace and quiet, a decent night's sleep, a good quality shower, FORGET ABOUT IT. ||We paid $850 bucks for two sleepless nights due to street noise, garbage trucks, hoons, people coming and going, slamming doors, noisey air conditioning and loud conversations. The most awful shower I've ever had in my life. I didn't know it was possible to simultaneously not get wet and nearly drown. Water everywhere but where you want it to be. I ended up having to finish washing my hair in the vanity sink to get the shampoo out. Sparse rainwater style shower head is stupid and impractical. Most places have dual showerheads so you can change depending on what you're doing. Impossible to shower without getting your face and hair wet. The lighting is awful. If they want ambient mood lighting, put it on a dimmer. Very little natural light and every mirror is positioned under a down light which made it nearly impossible to apply makeup and get ready. ||The aesthetic doesn't make up for how bad the actual hotel is. For the money, stay at Crystalbrook...
Read moreWe have been planning to host an exclusive trunk show in Sydney in collaboration with a very well known designer for our top tier clients in the region. We opted for Paramount House Hotel after a recommendation from our PR agency. We have never worked with Paramount Hotel Group before and we thought the one in Sydney fit the vibe we were seeking for our event in the region. Right from the time we start emailing to Eden Elan, Manager and Marissa Shirbin, Brand Manager (in my opinion who has no idea what being a Brand Manager means) my experience have been the worst ever! It is appalling to witness employees of such a respected company to behave in such unprofessional manner. We are a week away from our event and Paramount House Hotel has just cancelled our bookings despite the fact that we explained that all our invites has gone out to our guests. This hotel puts transaction before their customer relations. They do not care about the impact nor have done anything to sort the situation out. The only explanation was that the rooms are no longer available. There is nothing they can do. As a business we have so many partners (hotels that we worked with) all around the world, I have never experienced anything like this before - So unprofessional and bad customer service. Extremely disappointed! We will never be doing business with Paramount House...
