My partner and I checked in for a two night stay on Easter Sunday and we were not disappointed with our stay.
We booked through Luxury Escapes which included a midday checkout, full Buffett breakfast each morning and a room upgrade to the top floor.
As we arrived a bit early, the reception staff initially declined an early check in but one of the ladies followed this up and we were inside our room by 12:30pm. Being a housekeeping supervisor, I know how rooms are cleaned and that often, your room will be ready a little earlier than expected so it’s always worth asking nicely.
The room exceeded our expectations!
With a beautiful view overlooking the harbour (see attached photo), we decided to stay in for most of our stay and enjoy the comforts. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was also set up well. There was a little bar fridge to pop our water bottle and snacks whilst the TV connects to Apple TV, Stan and other streaming services. You just need to log in to your streaming accounts and remember to log out before you leave.
Now, what about breakfast?
I’ve enjoyed plenty of great breakfast buffets over the years but this was one of the best!
We were fortunate enough to acquire a table by the glass windows overlooking the harbour. Then, after exploring the options available, we enjoyed a wonderful selection of food and beverages. It’s the little things that a hotel gets right like this that makes me check into them again when I return.
The decor of the venue has a nice old fashioned feel about it. I know some will prefer the modern bling and gloss but I prefer these older venues with more traditional styles. It reminds me of the 80s when this venue would have been the choice of the well to do and celebrities. The staff should be commended on how clean and beautiful they have this venue looking.
The only thing I could fault would be some of the guests. Staying at View should be a classy experience. Letting your kids run around like it’s a playground isn’t the done thing in a venue like this. And nor are loud and boisterous conversations in the foyer and eating areas. Remember folks, you are staying in high end accommodation and not a hostel so please act accordingly.
We normally stay out near the airport for our Sydney trips but from now on, we will look to return to View. It’s a beautiful mix of old fashioned traditions and modern taste. That for me, is the perfect mix for a comfortable stay in one of the worlds best cities.
Lastly, thank you to the reception staff, housekeeping ladies and restaurant staff who all went above and beyond! I do hope your management team understand and appreciate just how good a job you all do. I for one, truly appreciate the way in which you handle...
Read moreView Sydney has been one of the hotels that I keep coming back to because of many reasons. Great location - its not too far from the city, next to the train station so its really easy to travel to and from. They also have their own parking for their guests with reasonable parking rates, which make it convenient to bring a car. Delicious breakfast buffet selection too. Rooms are spacious and reasonably priced.
Unfortunately, during my recent stay and interaction with the staff has influenced my review. During my last stay, my husband and I got a room and after checking in and got to the room, we started organising our luggages and getting ready to relax so that we’re ready for our flight the next day. I turned around and noticed that there was a drop of blood (it was already dry) on the bed sheet. I asked my husband if he had an open wound or something and checked myself as well to make sure that it wasn’t from us before we informed the hotel staff. We checked and no part of us was bleeding or wounded or had a cut. We called and got it sorted. What I didn’t appreciate though is how the house keeping staff reacted and insisted that the bed was clean and the blood mark wasn’t there before. They looked at us as though we were lying. We didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, but we know that the room wasn’t inspected properly because aside from the drop of blood on the bed sheet, the menu sheet still had the previous hotel guest details and order and no new blank menu sheet was provided. Although, the house keeping staff treated us like this, the supervisor in the reception handled the situation professionally and apologised for the inconvenience.
Currently, we are overseas for a holiday and heading back to Sydney and we’ve booked View Sydney as well. Unfortunately, two days before our flight back, my husband was brought to the Emergency at the nearest local hospital overseas due to a medical condition and has been advised to delay travel and be on full rest. This meant changing everything from our flight tickets to our hotel accommodation. I requested a fee waiver for our cancellation due to an emergency medical reason and have attached medical bills as proof. Today I received an email that the fee waiver has been denied.
It saddens me to leave this review, but the lack of empathy especially over medical case is really disappointing. After all these instances, how can we be expected to return to this hotel again.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a photo of the blood on the bed sheet because we didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. But I took a photo of the old menu sheet during our stay. I’ve also attached the rejection for...

Housekeeping Incident: We had an unfortunate experience with a member of the housekeeping staff. We left $12 (10 AUD + 2 USD in change) on the ironing board with two shirts and asked a nearby housecleaning staff member if he could iron the shirts for the money. He agreed and thanked us. However, he took the money but didn’t iron the shirts.
That evening, we contacted housekeeping, explained the situation, and showed the un-ironed shirts. The staff member denied it, claiming the shirts were ironed. Later, the $10 AUD was returned to us via his supervisor, and the $2 USD was found in his cleaning cart. When I confronted him the next day, he apologized but couldn’t explain why he took the money without doing the task.
We brought this to the assistant manager, Emil, expecting the issue to be addressed professionally. Unfortunately, Emil dismissed it, stating the matter was between us and the housecleaner and not the hotel’s responsibility. We weren’t seeking compensation—just acknowledgment of the issue. Sarah at the front desk overheard and stepped in with a sincere apology, offering us the general manager’s contact information for follow-up. While we appreciated Sarah’s professionalism, it’s disappointing that such a simple matter wasn’t handled better.
The Room: The hotel offers stunning views. From our “superior” queen room, we could see the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Luna Park. However, the room was smaller than expected, with a very tiny bathroom. The bathroom was so compact you could sit on the toilet and enjoy the view of the bridge. Unfortunately, the walls were paper-thin, and we could hear conversations and TV noise from neighboring rooms. Other guests we spoke with experienced the same issue.
The free Wi-Fi didn’t support streaming Netflix, so we upgraded for $25 to achieve a fast 350 Mbps connection. However, the TV’s browser didn’t support logging in, so our FireStick couldn’t be used.
Dining Experience: Dinner was a highlight. The pork belly was cooked to perfection, and the fries with aioli were outstanding—the best I’ve ever had. The breakfast buffet offered a good variety, though the sausages were bland, and the orange juice wasn’t great. Pre-booking the buffet the night before saved $8 and was worth it.
Overall Impressions: While we enjoyed the views and the dining, the housekeeping incident and thin walls overshadowed the positives. A simple acknowledgment and apology from management could have made a big difference, but the handling of the situation left a poor impression. Sadly, this experience means we’re...
