The reception lady was nice. My stay was horrible. The reason my overall rating being poor is because of the awful experience I had with the manager. Upon check in I went to my room, and there were two single beds. Even though in my booking request I clearly wrote that I want 1 double, queen or king bed. I went straight back to reception and the lovely lady at reception confirmed that I had indeed requested this. She then proceeded to see if she could find another room, but given that the entire city was full due to Taylor Swift, everything was fully booked, and this included all over Sydney. There was no housekeeping staff either. I asked if she could contact the manager who conveniently was not at the property and said he was in a poor phone reception area. I explained the situation and his response was that they only have a certain amount of rooms with double beds and when they finish then there are no more available. My question to him then was, "Why did your hotel not tell me that when I made the booking, considering that I had clearly stated in my booking that I wanted a double bed. He had no answer. I said that I would like a solution, to which he said, we can refund you your booking and you can go and look for something else. He had no interest in finding a solution. My response was, "Your best solution is to through me out on the streets and work it out for myself. Considering that the entire city is currently full, your answer is to through me on the streets." he responded by saying that he felt under the circumstances, his solution was reasonable. Considering this is a hotel connected to a catholic school and church, he was not being very Christian. He then suggested that I just push the beds together. No suggestion to have my bed remade or anything. I ended up just saying that there was no point talking to him anymore as he was clearly not a true hospitality manager. I asked for sheets and made my own bed. Had the worst night sleep and considering that I had a big Board meeting the next day, did not appreciate this. The room itself is okay, nothing special, and has minimal of everything. No microwave or anything. Toiletries provided also minimum. Credit however, as the room was clean. My poor review is completely due to the poor service by the manager, and for this reason I will never stay here again and will ensure that every person within our business never uses this...
Read moreI stayed here last week for a Josephite Colloquium and cannot recommend Anderledy Lodge more highly. The rooms are New (2021) huge and very clean. Enormous king sized bed, large shower and tv are standard. Each morning there is a buffet continental breakfast included with gluten free options. The most amazing thing about Mary MacKillop Place is that it is peaceful and serene and there is absolutely no noise from other guests when you are in your room. There is a little coffee shop on site that has a large cabinet of sweet and savoury treats and the coffee is great! Mass is offered each morning and you can sit in the stillness beside Mary MacKillop's final resting place. The train station is a short 5 minute walk away through Greenwood Plaza (supermarket, chemist and lots of specialty shops) and is easily accessible, even with a suitcase. You can be at the domestic airport in 25 minutes on the train - much cheaper and easier than an Uber or taxi. I got up early and went for a beautiful walk down to the Harbour, past Luna Park and Kirribilli House and back up the hill. Staying at Mary MacKIllop Place helps the Sisters of Saint Joseph to do their work with funds from your stay helping women in Peru, working with indigenous peoples, promoting justice issues, supporting education, offering grief programs and family care. An oasis in the middle of...
