Was trying to go to hornsby to catch a train to the central coast (and was at north sydney station more than 40 minutes before we needed to be there) but trains weren't going north due to incident at chatswood. Turns out you're basically stranded at north sydney if trains aren't running. There was trackworks from wynyard to central so was going to get a light rail from wynyard to central to get the central coast train and had about 45 minutes to make it. The announcers at north sydney said the train to wynyard would leave "shortly". It then didn't leave for over half an hour. By the time we got to wynyard (which we had to wait on the train right before the platform for some reason even though there were no other trains and had already waited half an hour) the trains were back up and running to hornsby. Yet the announcers at north sydney didn't bother to mention this before the train left to wynyard but clearly wouldve known since there's about a 5 minute difference and we saw a train going north on the way to wynyard. If we had caught that earlier train we wouldve made the connection at hornsby but instead got completely messed over because the people at north sydney station suck at their jobs, and so missed the train by about 4 minutes. I literally don't understand how it's so hard to make a simple announcement that the services will be back up and running just after the other train leaves so that we couldve made the train at hornsby. I also have no idea what makes it so hard for a train to run between wynyard and north sydney. It's 2 stops, 5 minutes. In half an hour it couldve gone back and forth 3 times and we wouldve made the train at central. Terrible. No clue. No processes. Infuriating. Took about 4 hours to get home from north sydney to the central coast because of it. There was a reason we were planning to catch that certain train from hornsby - the next direct train to our stop was an hour and a half later. Which is also why we were trying to be there much earlier than we needed to be. Yet people suck at their jobs and completely mess us over with something that couldve been managed. I don't have to ever want to pay for a train trip to or from north sydney again after this. I've caught trains to Sydney at least twice a week for almost 7 years (except covid) so I already know the systems can be pretty poor, even if it just sprinkles. But this was ridiculous and if people could be better with the work they have and if they gave any care, concern or courtesy to their customers we still wouldve made it. Unfortunately however, I still have to give 1 star as that's...
Read moreExtremely rude personel tonight! I use this station everyday, but this evening the Easy Access gates where I could bring my bike through were all closed, and the only employee there (tall man with glasses) was talking on the phone, so the only option left was a regular gate. While going through it, it suddenly closed on me, hitting the bike against me, at which point that employee (still on the phone) came to me saying that I can't go through there, and when I was trying to explain that this time I had no other option, he opened the easy acess gate (which was still displaying the red cross) and told me: "Yeah, yeah, you should hurry before this one closes on you too!" Not even an explanation or a sorry and continued his conversation on the phone. I have never had a bad experience with staff members before, but this was...
Read moreThe North Sydney Station is a busy transportation hub, not by the number of train lines running through it, as trains arrive and depart here punctually via the T1 North Shore and Western, and the T9 Northern lines, but by the sheer amount of commuters using it, due to its close proximity to the city centre and its strategic location by the roads and motorways, making it close to several interest points in the area. It's considered small, when it comes to train stations of such importance, as the platforms are not wide enough to cater to the huge passenger flow and some facilities are a little old school, but it's quite clean and the facilities in the Station are well maintained, white the staffs stationed here being kind and...
