We were at the Greenwood Hotel for a work function for Melbourne Cup, about 10 of us. The original invite had said from 11.30-3.30 which included a drinks package and food during that time. My colleague and I went to the bar before 3.30pm to order drinks but were told the drinks package ended at 3pm and an email had gone out a few days ago. We didn't have the email and the bartender then called over the manager to handle the situation. The manager showed us the email that went out and we acknowledged this and apologised for not realising. The manager left and we turned back to our bartender to order drinks, where another bartender shouted something across the bar about "being rude" and then our original bartender says she wont serve us anymore as we are too intoxicated, yet we had just spoken to the manager who hadn't said anything about not serving us? Extremely bad customer service and rude young girls behind the bar with attitude. I have worked at other establishments like this where if it is causing a bad customer experience (and the email was sent after the tickets were issued, it should have been on the original ticket), then you would honour the ticket details and the timing of the drinks package. Not everyone would have received and thoroughly read the email sent a few days prior to the event if you bought tickets more than a week ago. I'm not usually one to leave negative reviews but can imagine we weren't the only people turned away yesterday for the same reason regarding the drinks package and then told they would...
Read moreI was visiting Sydney with a close friend of mine and as we were staying in North Sydney - we wanted to pass by and have some drinks on Sunday afternoon.
The place was pretty packed and there was a good DJ. As anywhere in Australia, alcohol was being consumed excessively yet the vibes were good.
While we were dancing, one of the security guards approached me and asked me to leave the venue. I was pretty surprised and I requested a reason why I am being asked to leave the place. I was told that I was intoxicated. I did reply to the gentleman named Chris that everybody in this venue are intoxicated however I was shown the door with physical arm force.
After some useless conversation, we were put on the door. I asked permission to talk the security manager but I denied access. Security Guard Chris was obviously pretty racist and did have no clue about my level of alcohol...
I dont recommend anyone to visit this place as it has a racist stance and dont seem to educate their security team on good manners. Try somewhere else... Aussies are very kind and welcoming - this...
Read moreI'm confident that this the absolute nr 1 hotel in Sydney, if not the stateif not the entire country! Such cozy, summery terrace setting surrounding the former limestone cathedral (is it?!). The interior is absolutely top notch, very well maintained, incredible lighting, I just love wondering around the place, wondering what the place uswd to be and how gorgeous it looks now. Downside is that it is 100% self service, you get an annoying buzzer and the food is on the take away table, go get it, sauces and stuff on your left (feels a bit like Costco lol). Staff in general is not that friendly at all. The other thing is that I just hate all those bloody screens, they really ruin the 'romantic setting'. It was almost full house when we were there and I counted two guys watching footy. One part of the hotel was totally empty, why not show it there and keep the loungy vibe outside. Pizza is usually delicious, this time we got a bit unlucky with a total overdose of 'fresh' rosemary on it and oh, the calamari portion was bluntly...
