Stayed for 3 nights and the room was small but fine for this length of stay. We booked a triple room to give a bit more storage space and this worked well although USB charging would have been nice, as would a kettle and drink making facilities.||It's not well advertised on here or indeed anywhere I saw but the hotel let us check in a couple of hours early (a Godsend) and I noticed others checking in even earlier on other days although I expect this is only outside the busiest months||The buffet breakfast is small but decent value at 10 euros (pay for these in one go rather than each morning otherwise you wated time queuing like we did!).||It can be a little hard to find from the train station but turn right on exit, head for the ground level car park pay station and take the lift up one flight before taking a second different lift up to the hotel: it's quite simple: we asked our ticket inspector as she was leaving the station as I know she spoke good English. ||There is an excellent free shuttle bus in the nearby bus station which runs every twenty minutes from 7 till 7: try to get there a few minutes early as the bus is quite small and popular at peak times). It is however a lovely 10-15 minute walk to the centre and you can and should try and walk via the lovely Minnewater park if you can as it's one of the most picturesque parts of Bruges. ||We didn't encounter mosquitoes as it was unseasonably cool but I would definitely take repellent. ||Oh one final thing and last but not least: the reception staff are one of the best things about this hotel: Ilona and Freek (yeah you read that right) were really helpful and friendly. ||I would ignore the more negative reviews: we are fairly well travelled and at about £70 a night this is good value for its location if you don't...
Read moreThe worst hotel experience ever . Plane delayed on Friday and when mobile phone switched on again checked emails, thankfully. Email from Ibis to be told if I did not contact this hotel with half hour my rooms would be cancelled. So rang hotel and was told I was to late my rooms had been cancelled as I did not inform them of time of arrival , was told you had to check in between 12 and 6pm. She then proceeded to tell me my credit card which had been used to reserve room had been declined, funny how it had not been declined when paying for train tickets and purchases half hour prior to the call in Brussels train station. Then asked the very unhelpful receptionist , so if you cancelled my rooms half hour ago can I rebook, only to be told NO we don't have any rooms ! So I asks , how can my rooms be sold so quickly , well could they have they resold my rooms at double the price , I wonder ! Asked can you please tell me how 4 adults who have just arrived on the train what should I do about accomodation, this time I was told Madam that is your problem not mine ! Funny how when I asked her name she was not keen to give it , why ? So very strong email to head office has been sent . Needless to say it was actually a god send , this hotel is in the most horrible location , walked 15 minutes down the road and was treated as paying guests should be treated at the Novotel Bruge Centrum . Girl at reception was apologising for another hotel and how rude we had been treated , great location 5 minute walk to square , so guys stay clear of this place , if you want location this is not the place to be its beside the train station with awful views and not close to the heart...
Read moreLet's get the obvious out of the way; Ibis Budget Brugge/Bruges is a value hotel. As others have said the toilet door is flimsy, the shower is in the room, there isn't much space and the breakfast is cold continental. You are getting a value break, they aren't trying to hide that.||However, we found the room, the lobby and the breakfast hall to be clean. All the staff we spoke to were friendly and efficient. The breakfast, while cold, had fruit, yoghurt, bread, pastries, cheese, meat, cereal, tea, coffee and juice. There was certainly enough to choose from, and you could have as much or as little as you want.||As a party of 2 adults and one young-ish child the room was just big enough for a long weekend, and our daughter loved sleeping in the bunk over our heads. The WiFi worked fine, and the TV offered channels in at least Dutch, French and English (it's a small room, you're probably going to want the TV on while one of you is using the facilities!) There is no room in the room for a kettle and tea/coffee, but you can buy it downstairs in the lobby. This is the only thing I think could be improved; maybe have one of the breakfast tea/coffee machines in the lobby for no charge for guest throughout their stay. ||The real benefit of the hotel though is its close proximity to the station and the centre of Bruges. The parking in the multistorey is relatively cheap, but it's easy to access by train or bus too. Then you can easily hop on a bus into the centre, or take a ten minute walk if the weather is nice and you are able. I don't think you can beat the Ibis for value, the location is perfect, and it does everything that...
