Before booking our stay to this hotel i checked all the reviews and i was pleasantly surprised to see that the hotel did have refurbismend. Our room was modern and minimal. Only thing lacking was the absence of a wardrobe, there was only a hanger. There is no phone in the room but a tablet from which you can messege or call the reception. The first few days it wasn’t working and it was a huge inconvenience but then they fixed it. We had some other minor issues which wear the hotel’s fault and they admitted it and they said that they would do “something” at the check out. I assumed i would’ve been a small discount for the discomfort. But nothing was done nor i asked to be honest because it wasnt the same person on the receiption on the day of the check out. The mattress and pillows were uncomfortable for us. We asked for a baby crib and they provided which was fine. The garden is beautiful. The location is tranquil, peaceful. We ubered to the city-center but you could walk for 20-30 minutes to arrive. They only serve breakfast which we included when we booked through their website and it was good, however the varietion and consistency wasn’t okay. For example, there were days they wouldn’t provide white bread, only brown, and there were days were the juice options were multiple and days were there weren’t. For the price of €22 per person for breakfast, i thought that it was way overpriced. In general, the prices reflect the good state of cleanliness and modern interior but the service is not the best i ever had and for the pricepoint definitelty expensive for what they offer. But of course, from country to country there is a difference to what is expensive and cheap but for my standards, they can do better or lowert the...
Read moreIn town for a special occasion, chose the well-renowned Begijnhof Hotel. Service: Even before arriving, the hotel team delivered top service as they helped me organize a surprise for my travel companion. Location: The hotel itself is located in a historic part of the city - the begijnhof - that happens to be recognized by UNESCO. The neighborhood is incredibly charming to walk around, extremely serene! NOTE: there are old stone streets, so wear appropriate shoes (avoid heels) and expect for your roller bag luggage to make noise. For runners, there’s a forested area very close by. Hotel: There is a private garden behind the hotel where one can enjoy food or beverage. In the lobby, there are tables and chairs next to an honor bar - basically it is self service. One must write on a chit what one takes. There are local beers, soft drinks, warm drinks as well as savory snacks. Oh and there is a very small fitness room with an elliptical machine and a few free weights. Rooms: while modern and very clean, the room was small with an open bathroom that had a shower. The bathroom was purpose built understandably though made the room feel very tight for two adults. Also minimal natural light came through the narrow window. Breakfast: Wide selection of baked goods, fresh fruits, yogurts and cheese! Yes, cheese direct from a local provider will fill you up and goes perfectly well with the sliced salmon, tomatoes or cucumber and the bread rolls. Bright open breakfast room and very friendly service. Summary: Wonderful service, beautiful property and surrounding area and comfortable bed. Will definitely return and...
Read moreChoosing a hotel in Leuven during the summer means thinking about climate comfort. I am happy to report that I arrived at the Begijnhof Hotel on one of the hottest days of the year, and after a cordial welcome at the front desk, I found my room delightfully cool. I slept well all seven nights because of the air conditioning and also the quiet. The hotel has enough garden areas to provide a peaceful environment for daytime relaxation and reduced noise at night. ||Most impressive, perhaps, was the extensive breakfast buffet which I added when booking my room. I looked forward each morning to the generous and tasty selections: continental, English-style, savory, sweet, and healthy options.||For those using public transportation, the hotel is located not far from several bus lines with frequent service into the city center or the train station.||A good value! I visit Leuven frequently, and I look forward...
