What a truly pleasant lunch experience at Cum Laude. I opted for the three-course lunch menu for €52. When I asked if it was possible to change the main course from red meat to vegetarian, the team was very accommodating and said the chef would create something for me. Wow! The substitute was better than I’d have expected - a chickpea galette with tempura zucchini flowers served with grilled veggies and the most incredible green olive sauce that was so good that I ate all of the extra sauce that accompanied the dish. Each course showcased the chef’s ability to mix textures and flavors, leaving me literally smiling. I was also impressed with the extras - the amuse bouche and the sweets brought out after dessert. If there was one slight disappointment it was with the price of the drinks - a bottle of water and a fresh mint tea were €9 and €8.50 respectively. Lovely dinner, and as a vegetarian I did have my doubts beforehand. However, after the starter I realised the chef was being far too modest by not advertising vegetarian dishes on the menu! Another four superb vegetarian dishes, followed by dessert, all of which were well thought out and an absolute pleasure to try. It is a shame that only one of these four plant based dishes featured on the menu which would make a veggy think they wouldn’t be catered for at this restaurant. However, this certainly isn’t the case! Wine list was somewhat limited and it would have been great if the gentleman serving and greeting guests could have let out, even the most modest of smiles, just once! Seldom I have experienced such an unprofessional service as on this restaurant. It claims to welcome its guests with warmth and professionalism; in reality the oppositie is the case. Not any moment you feel that you are a valued guest. The food is good as may be expected by the price you pay. But really: replace all personnel in the restaurant: they are completely incapabel. For the price you pay, you may expect a different experience!!
