De Waaiberg — Restaurant in Leuven

Lovely place to sit next to with a nextdoor petrol station sandwich and a lukewarm Monster during school lunch breaks. Lovely view of the clogged Leuven belt road and kamikaze pizza delivery scooters; diesel smog being belted in your face only adds to the atmosphere. Staff has never evicted me, though unfortunately, teachers often visit for midday booze to whine about their sizeable salaries not being big enough for an essentiallypart-timejob. Plus, the delivery van driver nearly ran me over...

It's quite an interesting restaurant!

While the food selection was limited, what we tried was quite good and unique (to foreigners, apparently). Lasagna had spinach-cheese sauce above the tomato sauce based traditional lasagna, topped with melted and crushed cheese served in a hot bowl! It was, I would say, a combination of quiche and lasagna and was good!

Ambiance was interesting also, which appeared to be an old building renovated to seek synergy from old and modern!

Lovely place with a good selection of both food and drinks. The staff are very friendly. There's plenty of room inside with seperate booths for larger and smaller groups including a whole section upstairs for large groups and parties. Outdoor seating is available in summer but the location next to the busy ringway is not all that pleasant. There's a student bar in the basement so sometimes there could be some...
