Our stay at Colinda Cabanas was incredible. We stayed for 7 nights, in the middle of which Hurricane Lisa passed over Caye Caulker. We were originally booked in a lower beachfront cabana, but due to the Hurricane the owner, Kari, moved us to an off-the-ground cabana in the back of the property while the storm passed by. She took sincere care to make sure all guests stayed safe during the hurricane by ensuring we had flashlights, plenty of gallons of purified drinking water and water for flushing in the case that water was shut off. She also maintained a group chat on WhatsApp during the storm to frequently check in to ensure were safe and to update us on the situation. Staff quickly moved us back into our beachfront cabana after the storm. We spontaneously decided to stay an extra night and Kari didn't hesitate to move us into another open cabana (new guests were scheduled to move into the beachfront after we were supposed to check out). The last night was complimentary as we helped prepare for and clean up following the storm, which was extremely kind of her. All 3 rooms were very clean and had AC. They even offered to pick up groceries for us to be delivered upon our initial arrival and had a few snack and drink options in the office. The location is perfect, just outside of the louder/busier part of town and access to the private dock and having the ability to swim there instead of a busy place like the split was a big plus. We were even able to fish and catch lobster off the dock and use the provided grill to cook a big meal with other guests. I HIGHLY recommend Colinda Cabanas for all these reasons, and for their superb service and affordable...
Read moreThis was our 4th trip back to stay at Colinda Cabanas and there’s good reason we keep returning!
First of all, the staff is fantastic. Kari is so friendly and welcoming and gave us a heads up to go see a bluegrass band one night at Saltys. We spent every morning with Shae in the cafe trading stories while I drank mimosas (get yours with passion fruit juice if they have it!) and my husband drank whatever special coffee. Fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt bowls and paninis as well! Emilita in the office aways smiling and super helpful with anything you might need and Emory keeps the place neat and tidy and is always close by to help grab kayak equipment and snorkel gear. The staff here feels like family and we love hanging out with the kiddos at lunch time. The best hospitality staff anywhere we’ve traveled. I could go on and on! We miss everyone!
Grab an ice cold beer from the office and wander to to dock and enjoy the breeze. The rooms are super clean and our AC worked great when we had it on at night. We cooked breakfast a few mornings and the kitchen is well equipped! We spend a good amount of time in the hammocks outside reading and having drinks.
Each cabana has two free bikes to use to get into town. There’s a grocery store a 3 minute bike ride away. You can use the snorkel gear and kayaks for free as well which is a huge perk! I suggest picking up a bottle of “IT WORKS!” Insect repellent oil from the office. I get eaten alive and this stuff does wonders for me each year.
We can’t wait to be back...

I stayed at Colinda Cabanas for the second time in less than a year! December 2022 and November 2023 and I'm planning to return in December 2024.
Kari, the owner, as well as Emelita, Rosita and all of the staff are incredibly kind, friendly and helpful. They've helped us booked taxi rides to/from the airport and an island tour with a local taxi driver. I adore them all so much.
The cabanas and grounds are well-kept. No bugs, A/C blasting cool air, hammocks to lounge on, hot showers, plenty of drinking water and a full kitchen for some cabanas. The pier with the palapa is where you can soak up the sun or take in ocean breeze and views. There's even a resident, harmless iguana who loves to chill and bask in the sun near the pier. I call him Godzilla Junior.
As for the location, it's 10 minutes from "downtown" Caye Caulker. I don't know how one would complain about a TEN MINUTE walk to the other side of the island. The island's motto is "Go Slow" after all. Yes, the beachfront path (and all the roads) gets pretty wet after it rains but you're on an island with no paved streets. I recommend sandals with ankle straps or water shoes. Want dry land? Go to Aruba. Heck, I love that it's on the other side of the island away from bars, local businesses, other hotels and tourists. I want peace and quiet but I also want easy access to everything. Oh, bring a flashlight because it can get pretty dark on the island.
I highly, strongly recommend Colinda Cabanas. Such a...
