We made reservations so we could watch the sunset while having dinner. But people had helped themselves to our table that had a reserved sign. Staff tried to move them, but just created a massive scene. After about 30 minutes of agruing between staff and the reservation thieves, glares and finger pointing at us, staff had finally got them to move so we could get our table. In the meantime, the sun set and all we could see were the backs of people's heads from the very crowded bar area.

Managers then pampered the people that can't honor a reserved sign with a free lobster meal and drinks. No apologies to us. Staff checked in on them every 5-10 minutes.

We had to remind the staff 3 times what we had ordered. From start to finish, the meal arrived over about 2.5 hours of sit time.

All staff had to do was communicate with us that they messed up and lost our reserved table, we would have gladly moved on to another dining option. But instead, we get a dining experience that involved awful service, death glares from the owner, staff, and reservation thieves, and beyond subpar food.

An absolutely terrible experience. Would not recommend.

Extremely unorganized, and poorly managed. If you want a free meal and fast service, sit at a table with a reserved sign. If you want to do the right thing and make reservations for a romantic dinner at sunset, this is not...

There are so many great places to eat on Caye Caulker that we really tried not to eat at the same restaurant more than once but we couldn't help ourselves with the Pelican Sunset Bar. We visited twice and both times were awesome. I highly recommend getting there a little early to see the sunset. They have an amazing view. We also caught some fish while doing a tour with Nauti Time. After Nauti Time cleaned the fish we took them with us to Pelican Sunset and they cooked them for us. The kids loved that we were able to do this. All you pay for is the sides and you get a choice of three of them. It's a great price. Definitely go with the parmesan potatoes as one of the sides. The waitresses were awesome and the food was so good. Highly recommend them. As a side note, don't follow google maps to get there. If you start going through the electric power plant/generator area then you are going the wrong way. Just go straight down Aventurera Street until the end and you...

BEWARE OF DISCRIMINATION AT PELICAN SUNSET GRILL!! Posting this because I know so many locals patronize this restaurant - not sure it deserves your hard earned money. 2 of us went for lunch around 1pm yesterday and there was only 1 other couple there. We asked for a fan, like the couple already there had, and were told there wasn't another one. A few minutes later a group of white people came in, got seated, and asked for a fan. The same server jumped and gave them a fan. We asked why did they get a fan when you just told us there wasnt another one. She said, oh the fan was being used to dry paint - no one was painting, and did the 'paint' suddenly dry within the 2 minutes between our asking for a fan and the table of white people asking for a fan? All she could say was she was sorry....I guess the table of white people being more comfortable was more important than our comfort. Be careful who you give...

Was very busy when I arrived. There are bar stools to sit around bar. Tables couple of large ones for big groups and then 4 heaters. It was very confusing and not clear how you order except at the bar for drinks. Some people left so I took a table. Works out hand written note saying reserved. Guy was helpful and moved me to another table that was free. He bought me drinks menu not food. I eventually found food. Ordered conch and veggies. Plus a lemon drink. It took forever to come. It seemed very disorganised. Two ladies joined my table they ordered drinks and food. Had to remind our about drinks which eventually came. Mine arrived I was hungry but it was good. The other two waited over an hour and tried cancelling but then they asked for 5 more minutes. It came as I was leaving. At this time there was really no one else dining just drinking. Go with attitude of 2 hrs for food and you'll be fine. It was a buzzy atmosphere.

Really wish I could leave better feedback on our experience. Stopped by here for a snack after a day at Stingray beach. The service felt a bit dismissive, but the fries were amazing, so we came back a couple evenings later for dinner and to watch a nice sunset. The service was more friendly the second time around, but still slow due to the full restaurant. Our whole blackened fish and lobster fritters took over 45 minutes and they turned out to be the most disappointing meal of our week in Caye Caulker. The “blackened” fish was completely flavorless. When I turned it over, I found half the fish missing - the photo is before I even touched that side of the fish. Overall, hard pass for next time - there are way better restaurants all over this beautiful island. Hard to believe this place has so many great reviews if this is the standard.

Really beautiful view of the sunset. They have super friendly owners and staff. Leslie was our waitress and she was so sweet. I love their sense of humor… “buy 1 drink for the price of 2 and get 1 free” HAHA it took me a minute but I love it. They also have a sign that says “open when you come and closed when you leave” Their happy hour is from 4-5pm and their mixed drinks are only $5bz during that hour. Next time I’ll have to get there right at 4pm to really take advantage of their happy hour because those drinks were gooood! For food, we ordered the vegetable ceviche (vegan) for $25bz and ate every bite! A side bar about their drinks… they make a delicious michelada. It’s not included in their happy hour pricing but wow.. they definitely make it right.
