Last night at a little past 3:30 AM, 2 women at China Town Hotel had a screaming and physical fight that woke up the whole neighborhood. One of the women literally dragged the other woman AND HER YOUNG CHILD out the hotel’s front door. The screaming went on and on, there was hair pulling and kicking and banging on doors (the desk clerk had the sense to lock them out) and at least 3 screaming and tearful children under 10yo standing on the street in their night clothes. ||||It was a disgusting display and I feel terrible for those children being raised like that, no matter what caused it all. It only stopped when the police FINALLY showed up. (To be fair, the officers very likely had to drag themselves out of bed.)||||Not exactly the fault of the management, but just to inform readers what kind of place it is. Full disclosure: I’m staying in rooms across the street, not at China Town itself. ||||Even aside from that, there are drunks yelling and playing obnoxious loud music and breaking bottles all evening on the front steps of the store which is on the ground floor of the hotel...
Read moreI did not feel clean or comfortable staying in my room. There were 6 air fresheners that cleaning staff had hung around the room which I quickly removed since I am allergic to them. They were covering up the pervading sewer smell. The hot water in the shower took a long time to come through and then was no better than warm. The fridge did not work and was so dirty I would not have used it anyways. I was awakened in the night with what I originally thought was fire crackers but as it went on for 3 minutes I realized it was "hammering" in the plumbing system. Breakfast was provided as part of the stay, but was served up on the cheapest of plastic cutlery and flimsy paper plates along with instant coffee. The first of my three days included fried eggs that were not bad, but not enough to serve everyone. The next day revealed some scrambled eggs in a plastic covered container that looked totally unpalatable.||The only plus I saw of the hotel was the sitting area around the (dirty) pool which provided some quiet relaxation...
Read moreThis hotel was rather basic and booked as part of my group tour. Having seen the price of a night here, I definitely would not have paid that amount independently. ||||The rooms were large, but stuffy. The AC didn't reach across the whole room. Beds were large also, but not overly comfortable. Having a room at the front of the hotel meant there was also a lot of noise from the road. Our room had an en-suite, however the shower only seemed to give us hot water, no cold water. Even the cold tap ran hot - not ideal as we were often burning ourselves to get washed/wash hair etc.||||The reception area was small and décor was outdated. You could only get Wi-Fi in this area of the hotel, not within the rooms. The hotel does have a swimming pool, however at the time of my stay, the pool was half-filled and unusable by guests. It is not centrally located on the island and is about 25 minutes from the Split. ||||I had 3 days here and...
