We just returned from a 5 day stay at the St. Regis Bermuda. This is our second time at a St. Regis, the first being Puerto Rico, which will be impossible to top. St. Regis Bermuda is lovely in many ways, but did not quite meet what I had expected. ||Room: Family of 4 in a two-queen room. It was the most awkward layout I've ever seen. The entry is into a giant bathroom. The tub is in the middle with a large, angular footprint. There is no privacy to be had, as the two sliding doors that separate the entry/bathroom from the sleeping area don't cover the entire opening- there's either an opening in the middle or on the side. Really strange and poorly designed. On our last day, one of the doors broke. We were on the 5th floor and the balcony overlooked the ocean which is SPECTACULAR. I wish there was better furniture besides a small table and two chairs- a chaise lounge perhaps. There is no artwork in the room, which isn't needed when the shades are open to the beautiful view, but at night, the room is totally sterile looking. The storage is impractical as well. There is one small table and one chair- again, weird for a family of 4. Comfy beds.||Housekeeping: Inconsistent and basic. We tipped every day, which we always do, and often the service is reciprocated. Not here. We had one towel for each person the entire time. No vacuum, no cleaning of the coffee cups or restocking of the Nescafe pods. Turndown service was nice 2 out of 4 nights. Abundance of bottled water in room. ||Pools: Small- one adult and one family pool. Very nicely heated and open 24 hours. We did do a night swim, and found there are no towels at night. I feel there should be some if the pool is open all night? We were able to get some from the bar. ||Beach: Just gorgeous. Really well maintained. Beautiful water and sand. It is a public beach but never crowded. Fort St. Catherine is on one side (and worth a visit, free with your stay at the hotel) and it's just gorgeous clean water as far as the eye can see. ||Service: Pool and beach service is fantastic- especially Nora. So kind and warm and friendly. Nelson at the front entrance is really nice, as are the hotel staff at the door/concierge. Breakfast staff at Lina is great too. Bar staff was lacking overall- they just seemed really overwhelmed every time we went. Room service is good- easy to order on the phone rather than having to call and place an order. ||Amenities: There was smore's making one night, though we didn't attend. There is no kids club to speak of- the room was empty our entire stay. There is a coffee station in the morning outside of the restaurant before the doors for the pool/beach. Gym is sparse. Water is always stocked but the fruit and sanitary wipes are not. ||Tips: Definitely visit Fort St. Catherine. Skip Tobacco Bay Beach which is touted often but overrun with cruise people and very small/dirty. Achilles restaurant is a 2 minute walk away. It is good but very expensive with small portions. St. George's shuttle runs every night and is really great- friendly driver and a quick ride to a bunch of restaurants and a few shops. Wahoo's is really good and Long Story Short bookstore is adorable. Sunset views from the golf course are stunning. If you take a taxi, make friends with the driver and get their number so you can reach out for rides as getting a taxi when you need it from the hotel can be tricky. Bring...
Read moreWe stayed in one of the top suites, The Carolyn Astor Suite. At around $2,000 per night, we expected to be pampered in a luxurious suite offering all the high-end amenities associated with the St. Regis brand.||Unfortunately, despite the hotel being in a wonderful location with multiple pools right on a spectacular beach, the hotel failed to deliver on its potential to be a five-star resort. Specifically:||Poor design and provisioning of the suite:|The suite was huge but sparsely furnished with an impractical layout and lacked any atmosphere. In the living area the lighting consisted only of bright ceiling fixtures and an equally bright chandelier. Both needed dimmers switches, and a few table lamps would have allowed for a more romantic ambience.||There was no desk or workstation in the suite. This is essential in high end suites these days. The lack of a desk with power and charging ports made it difficult to keep on top of business during our five-night stay . The large non-functional chest with no opening doors in the Living Room (see picture below) should be replaced with a workstation and chair.||The bedroom had no storage space beyond the small bedside drawer. There was a large piece of furniture that looked like a chest of drawers but had no drawers! (see picture below) The room also needed a vanity with a mirror and a chair. The only storage for clothes was the closet located in the bathroom. It had limited hanging space as the left side hanging rail had only a 30” drop, not even enough for a tee shirt.||The guest bathroom/powder room had no storage for personal items (like a medicine cabinet). Nor was it supplied with basic toiletries or even a soap dish/dispenser.||The Butler’s Pantry (kitchenette) had a full-sized refrigerator and microwave. But it had no dishes, plates or cutlery. It should also have had a towel and perhaps a rack for dying wet swimwear.||Poor Housekeeping:|While all the staff we interacted with were friendly and tried hard to please. Service was not up to the standard we expected from a top suite stay at a St. Regis hotel.||First, the room was advertised as having a Butler. We never saw a Butler during our whole stay. We also were never offered any of the “services” (like a pressing service) that we later discovered were included in the $45 a day resort fee||Secondly, we expected our room to be serviced in the morning, with a turn-down service and clean towels in the evening. Most days our room was not serviced until late afternoon and twice only when we called down to complain.||No facial tissues were provided except one box in the bathroom. It would cost little to have extra tissues in the Powder Room and the Bedroom.||Summary:|While the St. Regis in Bermuda has all the basic ingredients to be a world class, luxury resort, lack of attention to detail in its suite design and less than acceptable quality of service leaves it lacking and not worth the high...
Read moreArrival to st Regis was amazing. There was staff and crew welcoming me to the hotel with wonderful warm smiles. I was checked in by one of the best front desk agents I have ever came across in all my travels, Tyra. She was so very friends, professional, informative and valued me as a customers. She took time out to offer a welcome beverage and then she took time to explain the features and amenities of the hotel. All the time dealing with her she had the best and most genuine smile on her face. She assisted me with getting transportation and recommended different things I should check out. After Tyra I was handed off to one of the butler's, sorry forgot his name he took us up to the room and explained room featured. After getting aquatinted with the room I went to the restaurant for lunch where I was met by an amazing gentleman who took the time to explain the menu and offer suggestions on choices. The food was average, pricey and nothing to write home about. I had the fish sandwich and had to drown it with lots of pepper and chipotle sauce to make it appetizing. I would say the food options are all pricey but then this is the st Regis hotel so it is to be expected. But if I'm going to pay so much for food please let it wow me in some way. Later the evening I went to the bar where I met Anthony the bartender who was amazingly good. He made me a pineapple drink that always refreshing. He gave wonderful service with a smile and was helpful with my order of food options. I ordered the grilled octopus and what a big disappointment, it was over cooked and hard and chewy after 2 bites i gave up and ordered a turkey sandwich. Breakfast was good but arrived very cold and the pancakes were dry, good thing they provided lots of butter and syrup. For my last night i ordered the baked chicken with jalapeno mashed potatoes. I requested the chicken well done but had to leave half of it on the dish. The potatoes was good and the sauce that came with the chicken. The hotel grounds is very beautiful and well kept. There is two large heated pools which were both wonder infinity pools. There were wonderful water stations and pool towels available for use, chairs and umbrellas. It is considered off season so I felt like a kid in a candy store with all these wonderful amenities to myself. I was given a wonderful upgrade to a large ocean front room with plush beds and beddings, soft large bathroom towels and the soap, shampoo and lotion amenities were wonderful. All in all I was there for a secluded stay and the hotel provided that for me. The staff are all wonderful but maybe I'll return during regular season to try the foods again to see if there is any change. Thank you all at the St Regis Bermuda Hotel for a good stay and...
