Hostal Luz Yhobimar — Hotel in Copacabana

We’ve been traveling for over four months and this is by far the worst place we ever stayed in.||- Incredibly bad mattresses, way too soft, there is a big dent in them when you look at it the next morning. We had back problems for days!||- We booked a double room and it didn’t say shared bathroom anywhere, “toilet” was in the list of features of the room. When we arrived we found out it’s a shared bathroom…shared with many, many other rooms.||- They wanted 20$ instead of 13$ a night for a room with a private bathroom, I said 15$ and they agreed. When I asked about breakfast I found out that it’s included in the 13$ rate with a shared bathroom, but not in the 15$ rate for the private bathroom. So if I hadn’t asked, they simply wouldn’t have told us…incredible!||- Well, regarding the breakfast: It was awful, also the worst we ever had. Two buns were fine, however old toast (which couldn’t be toasted), marmalade that simply wasn’t good and butter. That’s it, no more food. We’re not picky, but that was awful. There was also mold on the table cloth.||- The internet was either very, very, very slow (we couldn’t even do simple research) or did not work at all||- One bathroom (main floor) was awful, urinal smell when you just walked by||- Staff was not friendly at all||- Generally, they try to save money in every regard, e.g. the soap was half mixed with water.||- All in all, don’t...

I stayed there for two nights and I shouldn't have. ||First day before confirming they tell me breakfast is included, morning after they tell me it's not, I tried to get it. ||Second day I ask if someone will be at the reception early in the morning - I had to catch a bus - but there was no one. I missed the bus, they agreed it was their fault (telling me some "I was taking my shower, I did my hair, you understand ?" ... Right. Still, they didn't agree to pay for my next bus. Reason why I don't recommend this hostal. ||||Other reasons : I stated there for two nights but not in a row. I got the same room and they didn't clean the bedsheets, I could still see a lot of down of the sleeping bag I used. The wooden floor & beds make a huge noise when you move a toe or a finger. No correct curtains, even though they know the streetlights lighten the rooms as if it was bright daylight. No electricity socket working correctly in the room, you have to go in the private bathroom. The Wi-Fi goes down regularly and needs a manual reboot, which doesn't happen often. No shower curtains and with the showerheads full of chlore, water spits in every single direction in the whole bathrooms.||||I'm not the difficult kind of backpacker, but once you don't treat your clients correctly, you get what you deserve on...

We have been backpacking through Latin America for one year and this was one of the worst hostels on the whole journey. The shower was dangerous - electric showerhead that sprays water in all directions, no shower curtain, the grounding wire was cut so if you touch the metal dial you get shocked, and no drain inside the shower so there is water everywhere. There was a streetlight right outside our window and the curtains did not block the light. Dogs barking loudly all night. Pillows hard as rocks. We barely got any sleep. Security was pretty nonexistent, we left our luggage in their storage room and asked if it would be locked which they said it would be, however when we returned the next day the room was wide open with nobody even at reception so anyone could have taken our bags. View out the window is an abandoned lot piled with rubbish. If you have to stay here try to get a room away from the road, don't store your luggage, dont plan on...
