Hostal Tambo de Oro — Hotel in La Paz

I stayed here for a few hours (7.30pm - 1am) prior to going to the airport. It was very noisy between 10pm and 1am with the doorbell ringing a lot. The room was very clean....smell of air freshner somewhat overwhelming! Shared bathroom was a toilet that didn't flush and basin but no shower. I asked for a taxi to the airport. It was there punctually but when I got in the driver took the taxi stickers/notice out of the window. I explained to him that this made me feel nervous but he said "Oh the taxi is guaranteed by the hostal." I did get safely to the airport but on another occasion would ask that it be a radio taxi specifically rather than just some friend of the...

The hotel is located right near the main bus station, and is an easy 15 minute walk into town. You will have to get a taxi back from town though as it is uphill, and the altitude makes it a difficult walk. A lot of the rooms are up several flights of stairs, so it can be a tiring experience, coming and going, but the hotel makes up for it in value for money, friendly staff, cleanliness and the nice restaurant downstairs. I'm a bit of an optimist and don't like giving negative reviews but to be very honest, this place wasn't bad. :) The guy at the counter was super nice and the building is really neat.
