After having read the reviews, we expected a pleasant, small, quiet hotel near the center. While the hotel is small, fairly quiet and near the center, it is anything but pleasant. The woman who runs the hotel, Suely could barely communicate with us, as she did not speak english at all. She tried to use a computer to translate for her, but that is not what we expected from prior reviews which highlighted an American owner. She said he was not there. Thus, the expected availability of information about the area was not met. The room was small and smelled of mold. We requested another room and were told that we had to pay almost twice our rate to upgrade. The room had minimal ventilation and the air conditioner, while making a great deal of noise, did little to cool or dehumidify the room. Breakfast was highly repetitive, with the same things being presented for all five days of our stay and nothing hot was served, just cold cheese, ham, fruit etc.. The pool was in poor condition and was not appealing as it was full of leaves and dirt. The wi-fi was intermittent and very slow when it was available. When we tried to discuss this, we were simply told that the wi-fi was functioning - despite our experience that it was not.||||The worst of all was the energy there. The manager, Suely appeared to be quite angry and annoyed much of the time. My wife overheard her yelling at one of the women who worked there - hardly the kind of management technique to be presented in front of guests. When we asked about items in the minibar, which was empty when we arrived, we were simply told the prices of things..which were far and above what we were able to purchase them for in a local market. There was a tension and aggression there that made the stay very uncomfortable. Had we not been asked to pay for the entire stay at check in, we would certainly have checked out and sought another hotel.||||All in all, I can not say that I would recommend this place to anyone. I am certain that there are other hotels which would be more pleasant...

Negativo: Pousada velha, Janela do banheiro quebrada Papel higienico de péssima qualidade Café da manhã péssimo, apenas 2 tipos de paes, queijo e presunto, 1 bolo ( o mesmo bolo de sexta a domingo, prq ninguem comia) bolo velho, apenas café e leite, nem agua servem, somente abacaxi de fruta... Piscina sempre suja de folhas e agua esverdeada. Nao trocam as toalhas, só trocam a cada 2 dias de uso. Nao fazem arrumacao do quarto diaria, Falta de manutencao na pousada, ar do quarto de cima pingando a noite toda na cabeça.
Experiencia pessoal: Fechamos as diarias diretamente com a pousada, e para a surpresa, ao chegar para o check in, a recepção informou que nós só tinhamos direito a 1 diaria, desconsiderando o que havia sido acordado em ligacao, pois nós fechamos 2 diarias, perdemos 40 minutos até resolver o ocorrido e assim mesmo prq usei o CDC e ameacei ir a delegacia do Turismo.
Conclusão: Pousada ruim com valor acima do que poderia ser cobrado pelo serviço oferecido. NÃO RECOMENDO!

Read moreMy girlfriend and I stayed here for a week in mid Jan/2014. We meet Paul, the owner, who is an ex-Pat, and he spent about thirty minutes with us going over a map of Buzios giving us ideas on how to spend our time, where to see the sea turtles, which beaches to hit, etc. In retrospect, this really saved us a lot of time as I found his opinions to be spot-on. ||Though the Pousada is off the beaten path a couple of blocks, it is perfectly situated between the town and the beaches. I think the farthest we walked one way was 20 minutes, with most locations in the 5-10 minute range.||The site itself is very tropical, with lush foliage, banana trees, and beautiful flowers. It definitely feels like Brazil. Our room was comfortable, and there was breakfast offered (though I prefer to sleep in myself).||Paul definitely wants his guests to be happy, and having the owner interact with his guests was a unique experience for us. I couldn't even think of a suggestion for improvement.||For our last night in Buzios, Paul arranged our transportation to Rio, and even gave us a few places to try there. We made it to Bip Bip??? and had a great time there listening to the locals play samba.||Definitely the place to stay in Buzios, I wouldn't think of staying...
