Grande Hotel Itamaraty — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata de Curitiba

I stayed in this hotel one night only because early morning i´ll should take a bus to Ilha do Mel (actually, to take a ship in Paranagua )||I don´t believe that I, a faithful reader of Tripadvisor falls into the trap of "Photos of Site" like that. Dont ´believe a word in hotel´s site. This hotel is awful and smelly. My room (what i select ) was a double room (called in portuguese Casal Luxo, something like "Double Luxury")... hahahah... That sense of humor.... It a worst hotel that i stayed in my whole life. The bathroom is unbelievable. The Bed was so bad and in the hall that access my room, I had the feeling that we would be assaulted or worse. In the breakfast, uau... Cockroachs walking in the restaurant and nobody did anything. When i would go back to Curitiba, i found a room in Lizon Hotel, a little bit more expensive, but worth every cent and and is approximately 200 meters away from this...

I stayed at Hotel Itamaraty last year with my backpacking buddy. It was your typical hotel close to a bus/train station - a little bit shady, but overall clean and right across the street the Curitiba train station. You definitely can't beat the location for convenience! The decor is a bit outdated and the facilities are a bit run down, but everything was functional. ||||I would not recommend staying here alone - when you step off the elevators, all the lights are off in the hallway and you have to flail your arms wildly in order to activate them. It's a bit scary, particularly at night! ||||They have a "business centre" for email and internet, and an exercise room - you have to ask the front desk to use these things (again, these rooms were all dark). Kudos to them for saving electricity, but bring...

OK. It is not luxury accommodation but our one night stay was in a clean room on the 4th floor and a room that had AC. The rate was reasonable considering the close proximity to the train and bus station. We had a car and parking was an additional, and reasonable charge in a secure and covered garage. We planned to take the train ride the next day and were allowed to leave the car in the garage until our return late the next day. This is a GREAT service to have secure parking with no extra charge. Breakfast was OK, nothing special but clean and with good coffee. Rooms with AC are a small but worthwhile premium. Our room was on the back side away from street noise (some other reviews complain of this). Might be worth asking for this. Hallways are dull and aged but it works and is clean, safe and...
