I booked at this establishment, as I intended to be close to restaurants and local minimarts, and be able to catch a local bus or taxi easily, to roam and adventure on the island without the need for expensive tour guides, which are all over the place offering their services...||My expectations were exceeded, as the Pousada Tubarão os in front of the square which has the major taxi point, and also local bus stop, making my mobility worries unnecessary. ||Then, the fact that it is in walking distance to 3 beaches, and the most structured ones as far as food and beverages, which are not readily available at most beaches. And restaurants... From a relatively reasonable buffet restaurant to a couple of nice wine-and-dine restaurants, all within walking distance.||And most importantly, the staff: Vitor, Mariano and Luciana were perfect... Always helpful, always obligation and ready to give good advice and tips as to what, where and how getting around the island, food, and transport. They certainly deserve my highest respect and best recommendations!||The stay? VERY nice. Comfy bed with just enough space in the room for the basic necessities: fridge, which is empty, but you are allowed to stock up (market nearby), telly (just in case... I never had mine on! ), Exceptionally clean and tidy, with nice amenities (soap, shampoo and conditioner) and good towels. My shower was just fine, so no complaints at all about the rooms.||Last, but not least, the breakfast, with a good variety of fresh fruit, juices, and a kitchen prepared to stirr up an egg, or make you a wonderful "tapioca".||Two items I have to mention, which make the Pousada Tubarão stand apart: the same common breakfast area is open after 16:00h, for tea/coffee, and offers cakes and other tasty enticements, which is very nice if you have just come back from the beach, or a nice walk, and need to replenish yourself before heading out to see the sunset from the fort or beach nearby. The other treat, is a small common room with a telly, air conditioning, and a bathroom with shower. Here, if you have a later flight like me (16:30h), you can move your luggage and are welcome to freshen up before heading to the airport. The staff will assist and offer towels.||My expectations were by far exceeded, as the island is known for its high cost and below-the-bar general infrastructure. The Pousada Tubarão was a very good experience, and I would return. Specially, with the staffing that helped us so much! Best regards to Vitor, Mariano and Luciana who helped make our stay memorable and a...
Read moreThis hotel was the most expensive of our 2 weeks vacation in Brazil, it was supposed to be the highlight to consolate us from leaving this beautiful country!||||We regret booking this hotel. 185£/200€ per night||No WIFI (only near the reception, where you get eaten by mosquitoes and still it's very slow)||Extremely expensive for a hotel without a pool, or a sea view from the room.||Nothing in the minibar, not even complementary water (as we had in every hotel in Brazil, even cheap ones)||Nespresso machine in the room but no coffee capsules||Spider web in my bed lamp||The room for breakfast is horrible. No sea view. No view at all. Looks like a cheap canteen.||Very disappointed and we honestly feel scammed. The island is expensive but this is outrageous. The service is not there for such expensive price. We stayed at another pousada (which was unfortunately fully booked for the rest of our stay) for one night, with better wifi, excellent breakfast with sea view and half the price per night ||||The only positive point of Tubarao is the large size of the room and the nice staff of...
