FILTHY, GROSS, NOT SAFE, AND THE STAFF LIES DESPITE A VIDEO. STAY AWAY and watch my video on Youtube: Orla Copacabana Hotel Nightmare. - AC did not work and filed multiple complaints. AC is essential in Rio in the summer. - The rooms were dirty with stains on the furniture, and there was black mold in the bathrooms. - The room had no hot water and the handle was broken for the hot water in the shower. - The "full" bed was actually 2 beds pushed together where you would fall in the middle in a crack as the bed frames pushed apart. - NOT SAFE - Hotel says transportation is provided, but they put us in a random vehicle that we did not know was not affiliated with the hotel that took us to the WRONG airport (even though we told both the concierge and the driver the correct airport). Hundreds of dollars in lost flights. UPDATE -- If the AC flashes in error, your engineer says it is failing and to trip a breaker and try it again over and over, and it has not cooled down after 8 hours even at night... then maybe you need to replace the aging AC as well. In addition, your desk said they contacted the driver about my missed flights, your website has transportation listed, then you claim you don't provide transportation... So which is it? I am confused by all the changing stories and deception, but I will happily post some more pics of your website and responses so other travelers can be informed and warned.

The hotel is located in a perfect location right on the Copacabana beach. The view from the window centrally overlooks the beautiful landscape of Copacabana beach itself, as well as the Sugar Head. At the top, a tiny pool (constantly busy), a tiny gym and a sensational view of the beach and nearby mountains. In front of the hotel, a boulevard where people run, rollerblade, bike or just walk. Close to the neighboring beaches of Arpoador, Ipanema, or Leblon. Quiet neighborhood, relatively safe, as per the stories about the danger of Rio de Janeiro. Room without fireworks, normal, as in hotels. The cafeteria very small, food relatively ok, but it did not knock you off your feet. Staff at the canteen and the hotel boy very friendly and cultured. The manager and the staff at the front desk very oscillating. When extending our stay, they did not offer us any discount, even though we wanted to bypass booking and give both parties the benefit of it. Plus the excursions that can be booked through the hotel. We had an amazing guide who not only showed us around the most important places in Rio, but hinted at how to behave to be safe and did it in a fun way. The hotel itself is very narrow and can be missed.

Awesome place with a great view from the roof. The service varied but overall it was a great experience. We did have to make a request for the nighttime porter to knock on the neighbors door due to loud music at midnight. He came within a few minutes and resolved it for us. The nighttime barman was such a pleasant person who provided an excellent service and great conversation. He should be promoted to a managerial position. In the future. The loss of one star came as a result of the morning breakfast line. The person checking room numbers saw us exit the elevator and never asked us our room number. Unknowingly we placed ourselves in the clearly visible line. We were shocked when we saw others after us being called first. After asking him why he blamed us for never saying our room number. This was not fair because after we joined the line I noticed him asking other customers (exiting from elevator) what their room number was. He managed to work us in and everything went correct from there. Also thanks for the free bottle of champagne. Mark & Gustavo.

Wouldn’t recommend this hotel and I would not stay again. The standard rooms are so small there’s literally no where to stand between your suitcase and the bed - the room was so small it felt like a cell. The beds and bedding are not comfortable

And my biggest issue was that value you get in the product of the hotel is not worth the price at all. For 100 +USD per night (which is what the rooms cost) the orla is really bad value for money

You can get much better value for your money at different hotels and on Airbnb than at this hotel. I know because I’ve stayed at different places that are nearby, cheaper and much nicer.

The pool basically doesn’t exist - it’s more like a cold plunge that can only fits 1 person in and can’t swim at all as the pool is. The length a persons body - no laps possible.

The gym is very sparse and the main weight machine was broken. The sauna is not a sauna - it’s a steam room and was dirty and sandy.

The only thing I liked about this hotel was that the service of the staff was ok. The attendants at breakfast are great! The workers at the check in are just ok. They charged me without asking what currency I wanted to be charged in and therefore on their decision marked a 12 percent increase.

I was disappointed I chose to stay here. Unfortunately because I paid all upfront I would’ve left on the first day but I stayed because I had a non refundable stay.

I won’t stay here again. I recommend you find someplace nicer to stay at the same price.

To me it seems like the owners here charge high rates and deliver a sub par product.

Note the hotel is in a great location!

Overall I’m really surprised that this hotel has such high reviews. That wasn’t my experience at all.

I would not...

The location, roof terrace and reviews helped us book this hotel. We were not disappointed. |Check in - Check in is 2pm, the reception team did their best to get us a twin room asap on our arrival (9am). Whilst we waited, we left our luggage in a secure room next to reception and walked across the road straight on to the iconic Copacabana Beach. We were welcome to use the roof terrace and towels also. Although we did have to wait, they made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We had a lovely lunch on their roof terrace.|Reception - all the staff are so very helpful and friendly. They know their stuff, and go above and beyond. Shout out to Luis & Francisco who were super efficient and delivered excellent customer service. We asked lots of questions and nothing was too much, thank you.|Breakfast - All looked, and tasted great. Fresh fruit, fresh bread, hams, cheeses, cakes, pastries, eggs, bacon, avocado on toast, omelettes, etc etc. Efficient with tea and coffee, along with water and fresh juices. The staff were welcoming and happy to help.|Room - We had a twin room with no view - twin beds, clean sheets, ample wardrobe, full length mirror, TV, fridge, spacious bathroom, plenty of sockets. Cleaned daily. No complaints.|General - 2 lifts were more than enough, we never waited too long. The pool is a plunge pool, not a full pool. The lunches on the terrace are great. In my opinion, the location is at the better end of Copacabana beach and only a 5 minute...
