Unfortunately we had a terrible experience this time we stayed here. In the same day, I tripped on a uneven floor , fell down and hurt my knee. While being helped by my son, a hotel employee came to see what happened and never offered help my son to raise me from the floor as I could not walk on my own. Upon returning to my room, I realized my credit card that had been cut in pieces by me was not on top of the bedside table as I left so I went to the housekeeper to ask where was my card and she said she throw it away in the trash because she "thought it was trash" , I asked her for the pieces back and explained to her that it was not my intention for the card to be put in the trash reason why it was not put in the trash by me and I wanted it back, she literally pulled the 4 pieces of the card from a separate plastic bag that was not mixed with any trash. I felt very insecure and the housekeeper explanation did not sound good to me. If she thought it was indeed trash and deliberately made the decision to take the pieces of my credit card from the bedside table why put it in a separate plastic bag and not mix with the other trash? I requested 3 times to speak with the manager about the uneven floor that caused me to trip, fall down and get hurt with absolutely no care and attention of any hotel employee and about the housekeeper, in my opinion, suspicious attitude of removing the credit card pieces from my room and separating it from the general trash, but no phone call, no message from management . This is certainly the last stay at this hotel but I urge other guests to consider staying here. Not a special place to be worth the risk and lack of consideration...
Read moreThe rooms have plenty of shelving and surface spaces which is important in a long-term stay. The closets are spacious. Our room has a rectangular dining table which is useful to us as a desk area for two plus people. Since we do classes and work together, this was valuable to us. At the George V on Casa Branca, there was a desk and a small round table in the living space, which made it hard for 2 people to work next to each other. The kitchen is small but has a decent refrigerator, stove top, and microwave.||||There is a laundry room for guest to use. There are two washers, two dryers, an ironing board, a steamer, and an iron. The room could use a more ventilation as the laundry detergent fragrances can be overpowering.||||The gym is great and has plenty of equipment to offer variety in the workout. The ground floor pool is cold, likely due to the shade from the building, but cold water is good for health, so get in there!||||The internet is okay at about 5mbps but there are occasional, short-lived outages, which can be a frustrating. The plumbing seems to be a bit cloggy, in general. ||||The hotel sits on a corner of two streets (Praça Roquete Pinto and Av Pedroso de Morais) and Uber drivers are often confused about the pick up / drop off location which is closer to and faces Av Pedroso de Morais.||||The staff is completely wonderful. We will miss everyone. They are so kind even though our Portuguese is still very beginner level and quite pathetic.||||Special thanks to the all of the staff (housekeeping, restaurant staff, front office team). You are all wonderful in...
Read moreGeorge V Alto Pinheiros is very well priced for quality. These are small suites that are similar to a Marriott Residence Inn or similar residence hotel in the US. The rooms are designed to not offend and therefore are beige bland but soothing and comfortable. There are small kitchens, a small living room with attached bedroom area, a spacious walk through closet and a relatively large bathroom with both a shower and a Jacuzzi tub. They provide excellent service at reception and a they put out a very good breakfast spread with scrambled eggs, meat and cheeses, traditional Brazilian pastries, fruit, etc. There is a gym area with several machines and a small unheated pool and a guest laundry room. The hotel is close to one EXCEPTIONAL Italian restaurant PIU. If you stay here do not miss the opportunity of...
