The pizza is about as good as what you'll find in Naples, which is no small feat. For that reason alone it deserves 5 stars, although it's not the only positive. The service is quick and friendly, and the ambiance overall is great (although a bit bright and a bit loud when full, which is most of the time).
Be aware it's popular so there is usually a wait (I've usually experienced 30-45 minutes at peak dinner time). However, they will take your number and call you, so you can wander to any of the several great bars nearby in the meantime.
I'll mention a few negatives, none of which were enough to sour my experience but which could easily be improved: The eggplant appetizer, while delicious, was still cold on the inside. I understand dishes need to be cooled and reheated sometimes, but it should be heated more evenly. (I also wouldn't mind if it were a bit more scorched, but perhaps not everyone shares that preference) The sfogliatella, while made with quality ingredients, was not very authentic and didn't function well as a dessert. It was too greasy from the cheesy filling (it should be a more dry ricotta) and not nearly sweet enough - the several I've tried in Italy have more vanilla, cinnamon and citrus flavors. By tweaking the recipe slightly I think it could be excellent, especially as they're not easy to come by outside of southern Italy! The wine selection could be more extensive
Overall it was a pleasant experience and I'll gladly go back to try the several varieties of pizzas they offer...
Read moreThe food is excellent; The service, on the other hand is lousy! Waiting poorly done by inexperienced young waiters that are more worried in cleaning the tables other than attend the customer. They seem chatting among themselves ignoring being called by the customer, who no matter how long looking or having his hand raised is left unseen! Specially at the end of the meal, customer is penalized by the clean up, and must avoid asking an last water bottle. It never comes, and worst is brought by the table cleaner with no cups, just because you suggested to keep the ones at the table.... Delivery works as a compensation, although fresh from oven pizza is everyone's preference. Better trained few waiters would do a best job than the many unwilling to work properly ones today. And please, make them actually "Wait"; "Attend" the customer! Instead of talking among themselves, and seem to not be willing to do their jobs!!! Exceedingly nice when you order; Absolutely peevish...
Read moreMy zucchini lasagna was nicely served with a good quantity of tomato sauce. Unfortunately, one bite into the lasagna, it was totally cold inside maybe because it was frozen originally and had not defrosted. I returned the lasagna and was told it would be replaced. My wife finished her gnocchi (she enjoyed it) and still no lasagna. I waited for over half an hour and took three request with different waiters to try to locate it. In a bad mood I asked for the food to be packaged to take away. The restaurant manager appeared at the end to apologise and gave the whole meal free. When I opened the take away at home there was very little sauce and the lasagna was smaller than the original - I think they reprocessed the original. The lasagna was not good; salty and overloaded with garlic. I doubt if I will return or order home delivery. There are cheaper and better food options available...
