I haven’t stayed here yet, but I already feel a lot of confidence thanks to the way the Wyndham Trip Hotel (inside GRU Airport) handled my unusual travel schedule.
I land in São Paulo at 3:00 AM and leave that evening around 7:00 PM. Normally, that would mean booking two nights — one for early morning check-in and another just to have a place to rest before a long flight. But Marcio at the front desk took the time to explain that this is an airport hotel with flexible policies: guests arriving on overnight international flights only need to book the day of arrival, and the hotel will allow check-in even at 3:00 AM. That policy alone saved me a lot of hassle (and money), and it makes total sense for weary international travelers just transiting through Brazil.
I was so encouraged by this that I booked two rooms for my family, and I’m excited to report back after our stay.
On the flip side, Wyndham's centralized customer service was not helpful at all — one agent told me I needed to book two nights, and another couldn't even send an email confirmation after calling the hotel directly with me on the line to confirm this policy. They also advertise on the website that check-in is 2pm and check out is 12pm so I am glad I called the front desk and spoke with Marcio!
I'm leaving a five-star review for Marcio and the on-site team, who clearly understand how airport hotels should work. I’ll update this review after my stay to reflect the actual experience — but so far,...
Read moreI recently faced a challenging situation after booking a hotel through Chase Ultimate Rewards. The hotel was advertised as an "international departure, passengers only / transit hotel," which seemed ideal for my travel plan. I had a flight to São Paulo followed by a separate ticket for the next day to my final destination, due to the lengthy journey.
Upon arrival at the airport, I discovered that the hotel was located within the "checked-in" area, restricting my access until 6 hours before my next flight. In a bind, I contacted the hotel, where I was told there was nothing they could do about it and was advised to cancel my reservation. Amidst the stress of finding alternative accommodation that night, I didn't cancel immediately.
A few days later, I reached out to Chase. They contacted the hotel, only to be informed that they report I never called on the night in question and was marked as a no-show, which is inaccurate.
In retrospect, the responsibility for this mishap is threefold: 1. The listing on Chase Ultimate Rewards was inaccurate (still with the potential to affect future lodgers). 2. The hotel incorrectly reported that I hadn't called, when in fact, I had desperately tried to help me resolve the situation. 3. I admit to not contacting Chase immediately, given the exhaustion from a 24-hour flight and the urgency of finding a place to rest.
I advise caution to future guests considering this hotel, especially in similar...
Read moreMy room smelled like the airport runway (little gas, little asphalt) The only reason I didn’t say anything is because I was actually sick and managed to pass out. But almost 300 dollars a for 12 hours the rooms should not smell.
The check in was good. The guy said I would be able to eat lunch or dinner for free with my Priority Pass.
However at dinner time a lady was there and claimed the machine wasn’t working. I don’t even understand what that means. Don’t they have a way to work around that if there are issues. At this time. I’m even more sick and just needed something to drink honestly. But there was no section for complementary drinks. She even seemed annoyed that I even asked about it. Even tho it’s posted in the dining room that they were partners. I couldn’t stand much longer so just gave up.
At this point I’m thinking for 12 hours. Shouldn’t have dinner been included? But I digress.
Even with these issue I’m glad the hotel was there. It was my first time using one.
Also to add I actually got delayed in Tokyo and was giving a free room in the airport. Wow,, it showed me how bad this place really was. That is actually the main reason I came back to write a review.
A few fixes and this place would have been worth it. Just the smell and the lady was the final straw.
Oh she even walked away when she saw me checking out. The guy who checked me out was awesome just like the morning crew.
Really don’t know what...
