Staff were generally VERY unwilling to help, especially on realizing you don't speak Portuguese. I can converse in 4 other languages but no one could communicate with me. You would think an airline at an international airport would try to hire multilingual people. Instead, I had to swap Google Translate messages with everyone.
One lady at ticket sales who spoke some limited English basically seemed to be nothing at her job. As a tourist on a brief trip without any phone service, she offered no assistance and just kept trying to hand me off to another department. Upon purchasing a new set of flight tickets due to a missed flight from extenuating circumstances, this same lady made zero effort in finding my tickets. I called the booking company, who was able to find them in less than 5 minutes, but by then she had already wasted so much of my time that check-in was closed for my flight and I was forced to buy ANOTHER set of flights home. Lastly, you would think that she being my best option given her limited English, she'd try to hang around to ensure everything was sorted? No. While on the phone with my booking company, she took that opportunity to palm me off to a co-worker who, again, spoke zero English, for me to sort this all out with. If I was this incompetent and lazy at my job, I'd be swiftly fired.
The only reason I flew with LATAM was because they're part of the Oneworld alliance with Qantas, but I'd never subject anyone to being in a foreign country where no one is attempting to help, communication is extremely limited, and you're just trying to manage a last-minute flight home. Don't waste your time with this airline, especially at Sao Paulo GRU airport, if you can avoid it.
Please, do heed the reviews in this instance. I missed out on an extremely important job interview as a result of the poor service and laziness of LATAM airlines and the disregard they had for helping a lone traveller was rage-inducing. I've no idea how I maintained my calm and no one should have the fun parts of travelling be ruined by an experience with...
Read moreMostly polite staff. Very low sense of urgency. Eye rolling and dismissive attitudes are the norm dealing with these employees. Most seem tired and completely uninterested in hearing from the customers (clients). All messages sent by text, email, announcement, and airport gate screen were all false. There was no lounge. All announcements made by LATAM were unintelligible. This ridiculous airline ignores those who pay extra to board early. I was group one and half the aircraft had boarded before me. The priority passengers were mostly (90%) younger and able-bodied passengers who board early because LATAM doesn’t do its job. Boarded and stood in the hot, bad air of the jetway for 15 minutes. Unprofessional and confused employees. In São Paulo (GRU) the LATAM employee meant to speed international connections literally made the connection worse. He didn’t communicate. He ambled slowly to International connections providing no assistance at all. Because of LATAM’s employee, we were all now late and confused…. Then at immigration, the 30 employees were bumbling and confused, unable to navigate a technical problem, unable to communicate, and ill-equipped with a manager who could still handed International travelers trying to make connections. LATAM screwed up at both airports (GIG & GRU), and made the bumbling clown show at Brazilian immigration even worse. Most of us barely made our flights. I’m sure some missed their connections. And I’m also sure LATAM simply doesn’t care. The worst example I’ve seen of systemic incompetence with a culture of disdain and disregard for the traveling customer. LATAM had long avoided becoming fundamentally affected by Brazilian governmental...
Read moreTrash!!! This has got to be the worst airline in the country. They have the rudest staff. The laziest staff.
The fact that Delta Airlines would partner with this pitiful airline company is crazy.
Their customer service is trash. They act like they don't even know that Delta is their partner airline. They don't care. They are no help. None of their standards nor professionalism matches.
Delta and LATAM doesn't even work together. I'm unsure if they even like each other. The fact that I have to hold the phone with a Delta representative in line, to get help from LATAM is crazy.
I can't even connect my flight to Latam to even change my seats . The fact that I've had a boarding pass for hours with no gate is crazy
I really hate these people, and they will make me never come to Brazil again ever in my life .
And now I'm questioning my relationship with Delta, because they don't seem to have good judgment in their partnerships. Their partner airline has made this trip. Such a disaster and I haven't even left the airport yet. I'm dreading coming back (to go home) to deal with these people again.
The fact that I thought about canceling my fight just to get another airline is crazy but because they have a contract together and I went to another airline, I wouldn't have been able to get home ... what type of sense does this make?
$300 for a flight for a 51 minute flight is absolutely absurd especially when most of the seats are empty .... that's the only thing these two companies have in common, overcharging the customers.
I only went with this company because they were...
