This was our first trip to Bulgaria and it exceeded all expectations! Our reservations about a deveoping Eastern European country were unfounded and we found the town to be very pleasant and quaint in the old part of the town. There are also plenty of good value for money restaurants to choose from.||Yes Bansko is still a bit of a building site, the pavements are uneven and a lot of the locals don't speak much English, but they were still very friendly. ||The Monastery complex was very clean and well cared for and our apartment was a two bed and easily accommodated six of us. It was also very well equiped. The roaring log fire on a cold October evening was a must!||We visited in October so not in the main ski season, but there was still plenty to do, The walks up in the mountains had breathtaking scenery, and if you can stand the bumpy road up to the Dancing Bear Park, it is an amazing day out where you can get close up...
Read moreI stayed in the Monastery with a group of lads for a long weekend away skiing. The apartment was well located for the gondola and local restaurants which was great for not having to stagger to far back to the apartment after a night out!!!||||The apartment was spacious, well equiped and good value for money.||||If you choose to hire your skis from one of the hire shops, I would recommend that you choose one of the shops opposite the gondola as they are happy for you to leave your shoes there all day and you can pick up your skis every morning. Although it isn't far at all to the Gonola, any extra energy saved on carrying ski's means longer out on the slopes!!! You can also go straight into the Happy End Bar without the hastle of stowing skis. This is the place to be for apres ski!||||Overall good skiing, good snow, good accommodation and a good laugh! I would...
Read moreWe visited Bansko during August when the weather was dry, hot and sunny. The accommodation was excellent, well equipped and spacious and comfortably sleeps six. It is close to shops and a very good selection of reasonably priced restaurants within walking distance. It is ideally located for walking and the scenery is stunning. We tried quad biking which was great fun and very well organised. There is an excellent public swimming pool nearby. The ski lift operates in the summer months so you can ride up the mountain and enjoy a scenic walk back down. We would recommend The Monastery if you are looking for an active summer holiday with good accommodation at a...
