I had mold on the wall and carpet, the room was soo bad that they changed it for a less moldy one the interior was made 25 years ago at least, and you have 25 years of crass embedded into the heavily stained carpets, you do not want to be barefoot on that horror There is not phonic insulation, so you hear every one going to their room, and consider I am half deaf, so for me it is not even the worst They spray some "good" smell every where to hide the stench, and that just burns your throat The breakfast is low bracket quality and , we are parked into a windowless room Crumbs on the furniture the towels are stained and have holes the curtains have holes as well, but that minor the elevator threatens to stop working with you in it at every minute, there is no annual check report in it, so I guess there are none done The breakfast room has been put into the basement, the tablecloths are stained, in place of breakfast being served at ground level. The breakfast itself is low quality bracket And do not go to the under-ground-with-no-window "gym lobby", it is just spooky on top of the rest The swimming pool is just 5 m long, with high level of bleach in it You cannot use the air conditioning either because it is like sleeping next to a generator, it is ok since it is not warm anymore I checked the bed and so far I had no bugs to report, at least a relief ! the bed clothes were partially very old and in need of replacement, but looked clean. I had cups in my room to make myself a instant coffee: one saucer had been used for food at some point in the past, they never took away the used cups, never replaced the water bottles
In short, a horror, shabby, dirty, stinky,...
Read moreHotel Europe in Sofia is one of the most misleading hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Online it presents itself as a 4-star property, but in reality it barely qualifies as a 2-star. The photos are completely out of touch with the actual condition of the place.
On arrival, I was given a disgusting room with dirty sheets, a carpet covered in hair and stains, and a filthy balcony. Even the receptionist admitted the carpet was so bad he would “burn it down if he could.” When I asked to move rooms, I was told I would have to pay extra. Eventually I was moved to what was supposed to be a “deluxe” room – but there was nothing deluxe about it. It was slightly cleaner, but still just as run-down, outdated, and primitive.
The facilities are equally depressing. The hot water in the shower took forever to arrive. No complimentary shampoo was provided. The pool and surrounding area were dirty and neglected. Everything feels old and uncared for – maybe it deserved 4 stars in the 1980s, but not today.
Breakfast is another disappointment: served in a basement next to the car park, with food far below what you’d expect at a 4-star hotel. Security also seemed questionable, as random people from the street could walk in freely and access the pool area.
Even the lifts give you a sense of what’s coming – grimy, neglected, and unpleasant. That theme continues throughout the property.
In short: this hotel is a scam. It markets itself as a 4-star establishment, but offers the experience of a neglected budget hotel. Do yourself a favor and...
Read moreVery cheap and you normally get what you pay for in life! Some of the staff were reasonably pleasant, others should be nowhere near the hospitality industry. Breakfast looked ok except for the fact that when we came down at 9.45 the hot food and the chopped fresh fruit were gone and were not going to be replenished. There were 2 girls working at breakfast. The asian girl was very pleasant, the other girl didn't want to be there. Air con didn't work in the bedroom which made sleep very difficult. The faulty air con seems to be a common complaint in reviews and I would suggest confirming beforehand that it is actually working. Room maintanence was very basic. We tried to arrange a massage but were refused by the rude girl in the salon as she explained, "no speak english". If they were to do a remake of Fawlty Towers, they should consider here...
