We stayed here for only one night while travelling from one side of Bulgaria to the other so this review will necessarily cover only the things we used. Also since it was late December, the outdoor facilities (swimming pool etc.) were not in use.||The price of this hotel is on the higher side for a 3-star hotel in Bulgaria and as such I don't think it's inappropriate to expect the overall experience to reflect that.||We arrived in the early evening and the welcome was functional rather than warm. No words of welcome, no smile even, which was a little disappointing. We were pointed towards the lift to reach our room on the second floor. The lift seems quite slow in general and in reality it will accommodate no more than 2 people with their luggage.||The room was very clean and comfortable although not all that big. Fortunately it had a balcony but given the cold weather we didn't use it. The bathroom also seemed very clear and everything worked as it should. The shower has plenty of water pressure and hot water but the screen doesn't really extend as far as it should, and it's possible to get a lot of water on the bathroom floor. The hotel is not generous with its toiletries: all you get is a small bottle of shampoo per person and a small soap.||The room had aircon and a radiator. It was very warm in the room on our arrival and we had to turn off the radiator and open the door for a while to make the temerature acceptable.||The bed is a reasonable size and very comfortable but the pillows are unpleasant, rubbery and probably very cheap. There are spare pillows in the room but they had no pillow case on them, and they were no better. If there's one thing that needs improving, it's the pillows.||We were meeting a friend in the town in the evening so we didn't use the hotel restaurant for dinner, but we did have breakfast there, which was plentiful and biased towards Bulgarian tastes. The only thing that I felt was missing was some ready-cut fresh fruit, although some fruit (apples etc.) was available. Also the "orange juice" had only a passing acquaintance with oranges, as is so often the case in Bulgaria. It was instead an unpleasantly sweet and artificial orange-coloured thing that I decided I wanted none of after tasting it.||Checkout was again functional rather than friendly.||It was a bit disappointing in general or maybe our expectations were too high, but in any case, although I wouldn't be against staying here again, it wouldn't necessarily be my first choice...
Read moreStayed here with my wife and 4 month old son following a wedding we had in the more southern part of Bulgaria. We decided to head up north and stay at the Park hotel for three nights for a bit of R&R. ||First impressions were great! The room was ready for us with a baby cot (the previous place we stayed at refused to put one in the room which made for a tough night), the room was clean, spacious, lovely view of the pool from the balcony and staff were very helpful (something I noticed the other hotels we stayed at in Bulgaria didn't have). ||We tried the food here which was great! The BBQ food and the chips (crisps) was delicious. However portion sizes slightly on the small side where the platter for 4 fed just me and my wife and I was still craving for more food after the meal. ||We went into the pool a few times which was quite cold but you could get used to it! It was very green and cloudy which did get me nervous (especially with a young child and fear of getting e-Coli). However the staff informed me that the pool was safe and they had been treating the water. ||A couple times we also took the short walk into the city centre which included walk on the road for a short period before there is a pavement. However, we never felt in danger and this included a walk in the dark with a torch on one of the evenings following a meal in town. ||Highly recommend this hotel for families looking for a quiet break in a lovely part of the country (remember to bring mosquito spray though. We got badly bitten in September! There is a pharmacy in town if you forgot...
Read moreI gave 1 star for the restaurant because although the food is ok, the service and management are execrable. We arrived at the restaurant at 9:30 PM, we ordered food and dessert and after 20 minutes of being awake with all the desserts on the table, this in the conditions in which we had not yet received the food. When I said that we wanted the food first and then the desserts we were told that at 10:30 PM the kitchen closes and they can't keep our desserts. But still the food wasn't ready and it was 9:50 PM. So there were still 40 minutes until the kitchen closed. I asked them to at least put the ice cream in the fridge until they brought the food and they said they couldn't. I was literally shocked that we had to keep the ice cream on the table until it melted or eat it before eating the food, which came another 20 minutes after they brought us...
