Everything on the surface looks great, but underneath the hood this property is sketchy. Just look at lowest google reviews and see the one where they threatened to release CAMERA FOOTAGE of the guests to the other hotels. Just image that the owner took his own time to go though the camera footage and deliberately looked at the one where you appear. This is UNACCETABLE. So mind you, writing this review I already know I'll get either threatened or try to get bribed to edit/delete it. That's why you see most of the 10 ratings here. Even the morning after we left the property early, around 5am, they marked our stay on booking as if we hadn't arrived there at all, in a way that I wouldn't able to write a review. Anyway, I reached out personally to booking that I did stay here and they marked it back in my reservations, that's the only reason why this review is here now. I guess they tend to do this trick whenever they smell a bad rating from their guests. So keep in mind that many of the bad ones don't even land here because people either get blackmailed/threatened or reservations get canceled on booking and they don't care/know how to bring them back later on.
About our stay - good things: they sent a tuktuk to get us from bus station we got welcomed with fruit breakfast the owner offered us a motorbike free of charge for two hours before the check in you have some snacks inside the room, flipflops to use, they also brought us a nice dessert nice bathroom with hot water bed was very comfortable
All of this was nice, thank you for that. I do appreciate it. On that note, you can't help but see that it's all money and review driven, it doesn't seem neither genuine nor sincere. If you think that is, again, look up the bad reviews on google and their response. It's not a fair reaction to do revenge harassing to your guests. From the start, they were all over our head. We for one, prefer to buy something ourselves, than having something being sold to us. They would come too often and distrub you too much, try to sell the tour or something, instead of giving you the options to choose from and leaving you alone. You feel like there is this tension to buy something, instead of letting you make your own decisions. I'd rather have no desserts, no fake courtesies, but being left at peace and not receiving stuff with ulterior motives behind it, trying to cover whatever flaws your property has. And if you need to ask me many times whatever our plan is for the day, thank you very much, I'd rather keep it to myself and be at peace, than being pressured to take some random trip you're selling and getting a commission from.
We got a room without a window. It wasn't a big problem to us. But they brought it up way too many times, like if we ever said that we're unhappy about it and have a problem with that. That insecurity was way too annoying. I don't get it, then you start to feel guilty about something you didn't even far that much about in the first place. Even in the farewell message they mentioned that window, like what for. You just made it worse.
They'd answer to people that they treat them like king&queen. When visiting your property, I don't want that. I have no desire to feel superior than you in any way. I just want to be treated like a normal and not feel overwhelmed.
Anyway, price for what you get is way overboard and you can find a better places where you will also get a peace of mind, something that might be hard to get here. Once you see through, it makes your blood boil just thinking what is lying underneath this fake hospitality. They do it for the business, not for the guests. That's not the way to do this in a long run. Overall, we've met many friendly and genuine hosts here in Cambodia, this one was...
Read moreEDIT: I don't know this man who the owner is mentioning so I find this reply amusing. I guess the owner cannot take any constructive criticism. I would never give money to a random business out of pettiness. I was just honestly disappointed with my stay. I advise you to read the lowest reviews on Google to see the truth.
Almost all reviews were 10/10 so we decided to splurge and check what's so amazing about this place. We came to Battambang by bus and tuktuk was waiting for us on the station to pick us up which was an unexpectedly pleasant surprise. We arrived before the check in and were welcomed with fruit and tea which was nice. Since we had to wait 2h for the room we were offered to use the motorbike for free to drive around the city until check in, which was perfect. We also received a free dessert in the evening. However, a couple of downsides: note that the picture in the booking is misleading (there is no actual window in the room although there is one on the photo. It is written on the photo that there's no window, but I don't understand why can't the correct photo be uploaded instead? It looks like a different room). We didn't mind that there was no window as we only came for 1 night, but the owners kept bringing this up multiple times and made it a bigger issue than it was. Also, I found it overwhelming that every time I left the room I was asked about my plans and where I'm going. I don't wish to share my schedule with the staff. It felt pushy. Sometimes the owners came to us separately with the same information. I didn't want to use the hotel's tuktuk or excursion options because I found then overpriced. I also don't think the room was worth its price. The room is ok, the bed is comfy, there is water, snacks and an air humidifier. The bed and duvet were nice, but the room is pretty standard. We checked out early because we had a bus to catch. In the morning we noticed the hotel had cancelled our reservation on booking even though we stayed there. They claim it was by mistake, but I would assume they might not have wanted out review. I may be wrong but it looks like they might cancel the bookings of guests who did not 100% enjoy their stay so that their record stays perfect. I saw one review on google with threats and upleasant comments from the owner towards the guest. The owner keeps mentioning in their comments that they treat guests like Queen and King, but I'd rather be treated as a normal human being. The next day they were nagging us on WhatsApp for a 10/10 review, calling us Brother and Sister, which I find too much. The stay left me feeling anxious and I will...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights at Muni Residence and wish we could have stayed longer. We were welcomed with open arms by the incredible owner, Lay who gave us fresh fruit from his farm and some home made tea upon arrival. Instantly we felt right at home. Our room was perfect in everyway: Very spacious yet cosy, especially with the beautiful bedside table lamps. Absolutely Spotless!! Comfortable - the beds were liking sleeping on marshmallows. The best nights sleep we have had since beginning our travels nearly 6 weeks ago. The bathroom towels were very soft too. The room is full of amenities - from a hairdryer, fridge, tv, kettle, complimentary water and snacks, toiletries, to an oil diffuser and a bug zapper! There is nothing Lay hasn’t thought about when doing the finishing touches to the rooms. During our stay he gave us some delicious homemade cakes and fruit from his farm, which all went down a treat! If there was anything you needed, everyone at the hotel would go above and beyond to help you. From restaurant recommendations, places to visit and things to do. There were also bicycles you could take out if you wanted to explore more of the city. The cherry on top of the cake was our fantastic tuk tuk driver Khemry! He was our driver for the day who took us around the beautiful countryside of Battambang. We stopped off to do the Old Bamboo Train Ride, The Killing Caves and Bat Caves - all a must see if you visit Battambang. Along the way we stopped off to see the luscious rice fields and walk across this scenic wooden bridge over a river! Our trip with him was exceptional, he was very kind and informative along our journey and drives very safely on the roads. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a tour guide in Battambang. He does also offer other tours to many locations. To say the least we are very sad to be leaving Lay and his family as they have made our stay in Battambang one we will never forget. I would 100% recommend staying at Muni Residence during your stay in Battambang!! Thank you all again for having us and for making our...
