ONE HOUSE REVIEW|I stayed at this place for one week in March 2021. |It work in the hotel and tourism industry managing hotels for bookings and have worked in this industry for nine years. This place has a lot of room for improvement. ||The first thing that surprised me was there was no toilet paper. I was informed that as I had booked for a long stay ( one week) there Would be no toilet paper. So I was being financially punished for giving them more money by making a long booking . I had no special offer for this one week stay. There are no shops , cafes or restaurants within a short walk of the property to purchase toilet roll or in fact anything. So they seem to think it’s entirely ok to inconvenience the guest upon arrival on the first day which is a very bad move. Incredibly short sighted. All to save them a few cents on toilet roll.|The property advertises itself as having a kitchen. This is why I booked it. But upon arrival I discovered that there was one knife, one spoon, no fork and no teaspoons. No chopping board, no cheese grater, no wine bottle opener, no toaster, one glass , no wine glasses. I assumed the cleaner perhaps had forgotten to bring back some items after guests had used them but I was informed that no, this is all they provided. So if there are two of you, there is for example only only bowl and one plate. Again another example of Penny pinching which is incredibly short sighted. I was forced to go out on the second day to purchase toilet paper and bowls and some cutlery! |The property has photographs of a swimming pool on Facebook and trip advisor but the pool has vanished. Yet they still keep up the pics of the pool. There is NO pool.|They also advertise as having air conditioning. Which is in the bedroom. But it is the cheapest unit possible and doesn’t do the job at all. The building constantly feels stifling hot, uncomfortable. To the point that by day two I was suffering from excruciating headaches. I drank a lot of water but just couldn’t remove them. |Upon my arrival I was shown the room and again they had Penny pinched and not placed the fans or air conditioning on for my arrival. I arrived at the time I said I would and the building was like a furnace. Whilst being shown around I went to the fridge to grab a drink because it was so uncomfortable to find the fridge was also off. I promptly turned on the fridge and placed a coke in the freezer for later. It took half a day for the freezer to operate and another half a day to bring the temperature down from inside the building to a level that wasn’t dangerous to your health. They also informed me tht no one had stayed in the property for six months so there would have been even more reason to air the booking out, stick on the fans and AC. But no. They would rather save a few dollars and put their guest into discomfort. |During my stay I was volunteering at the local animal shelter and a small white dog was attacked there. So they asked me if I could bring her home for a few days to give her some respite. The property has a small slice of manicured garden in front of the buildings ( but only uncomfortable iron chairs to sit on with no cushions and no shade) so I brought the dog back on day four. Nothing was said for a few days. They then approached me to inform me no dogs were allowed. I found nothing on their advertising to reflect this. They made me feel really uncomfortable whenever the dog left the building whilst on a leash. Flinching at her whenever she passed as if she was some sort of killing machine. ( she’s the size of a Shih ztu) they also had two mongrels on the property which appeared to belong to them. So they are clearly familiar with dogs. I was then notified that I the foster dog wasn’t welcome to step on their grass in case she peed. Yet their own dogs were doing exactly that. |I had also asked for two extra pillows as I had a back Injury. The bed only supplied two pillows instead of four. I was told the extra pillows wouldn’t be possible because the unit only supplied two. Despite the fact they have another five units which were all empty and all had pillows inside them. |One evening I visited a friend in kampot and came back in a Tuk Tuk at midnight. They had locked the gate. No one at the desk. Myself and the Tuk Tuk driver shouted at both entry points for over half an hour before someone came to let me in. I was beginning to think I was having to stay back at my friends hiuse and wondered what a solo woman would do on her own in this situation if she knew no one in the area. I also called eight times on the number I was provided. No answer. |The next day at midday the person answered the voice messaged I had left. There was no apology for locking a guest out. |Upon leaving on the lst day I was given a bill for the fridge. I knew I had not drunk any of their drinks in the fridge so checked the details on the bill. They had tried to charge me for the drink I had forgotten about in the freezer from|The first day. Saying that because I had left an unopened drink in the freezer they had to charge me for it as they wouldn’t be able to now sell it to someone else!|Lastly there is only one member of staff who speaks English and he doesn’t work full time. The rest of the time there are a few 10 years old children left on the desk who just shrug their shoulders when you need help with anything. |My advice is to not stay here. Ever. The family running this place have zero social skills with their customers. They truly don’t care about your comfort. Every decision they make comes from a position of making money rather than customer service and creating a business that they’re proud of. Also the kirchen is pointless without the basic facilities and there is no pool as advertised. |Lastly the staff are all quite rude. The only person I saw smile in the whole week was the boy who spoke English. There is no eye contact, no attempt at communication, even when you try to speak Khmer, use a translator, show photos on your phone to be understood, they’re just not interested. |Stay at the Two Moon hotel right in the centre, it’s the same price and has a huge pool in a great central location on the river and the staff are all...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff was wonderful and went out of their way to help us enjoy our stay in Kampot. The bicycles are free to use and in good condition. We rented a scooter through hotel and it was in very good condition as well. The dirt road to the hotel is very dark at night, so we were more comfortable using the bikes or the scooter than walking. The pool is a small plunge pool next to the reception desk. Not all the rooms are bungalows, we had a second floor room in the main building. It included a kettle and fridge, but the power went out to the fridge when the key card...
