Poulo Wai became out favorite hotel in Cambodia. We used it as our base of operations for excursions from the capital to various points throughout the country. ||||This hotel is clean, comfortable with a complete set of amenities at a very nice rate. The rooms are spacious and we had a great view of the City from the 17th floor. Beds are excellent. Everything in the rooms were in good working order with plenty of space for luggage and personal items. ||||The breakfast buffet included many hot and cold food options and was well staffed. The facilities includes a decent fitness room and spa, along with an indoor/outdoor patio and infinity edge pool. The hotel also has a roof-top restaurant and lounge area with great city views. ||||We liked the abundance of common areas in the hotel, which incudes a large lobby with multiple lounge areas, the pool patio and the roof-top. ||||The location. worked well for us: Walking dstance to the Royal Palace, National Museum, Central Market and the riverfront. It is also very close to the Independance Monument/Park and Bassac Street. ||||The staff were the most helpful and gracious team anywhere. The fitness room can get quite warm as there seemed to be insufficient climate control. 2. It would have been nice to have a small refrigerator with a freezer in the room. Read moreThis hotel could be a much better hotel than it is today. My 5 days stay was comfortable, hotel is clean. Nice pool. However, I had to change my room on 20th floor because I found two pretty big cockroaches in the bathroom. Two days later, same story but this time on floor 16. Cockroaches coming out from the floor drain next to the toilet bowl. Which probably means the drains are infested with roaches on all floors. Some staff are really pleasant. Some other simply do not care and show it to your face. The kind of whatever attitude which can be annoying at times. I understand English is not their first language..... But staff should speak a minimum English to be able to communicate properly with their international customers. Most of them are saying yes yes to everything you ask them..... Obviously not understanding a single word leading to proper miscommunication. Last morning of my stay, I asked for a wake up call at 5.45am. I received the call at 6.20am..... No comment!! Last thing, hot water can take up a good 15 minutes before reaching your tap. Just be patient in the shower 😅 Location is not too bad but not the best in PP Last thing.... Breakfast is very poor in all aspect. Food, smell, service.... Management should improve the quality of the breakfast space and service that goes with. Conclusion: would I come back to Poulo Wai. Probably not. Price was fair but you can find better hotels with a much better service in the city. Special thanks to the nice housekeeping ladies and the staffs at the reception who always open the door at the reception / lobby welcoming...
