I’ve been a loyal patron of this restaurant for nearly nine years, and it continues to hold a special place in my heart. It’s a place that introduced me to the beauty of French cuisine, and over time, it has only improved.
When I first visited, the dishes were bold and innovative, often going beyond traditional French boundaries. I remember the creative combinations of fruits, gold leaf, soups served in test tubes, and even elements of Japanese cuisine. It was clear from the start that this was a place that enjoyed pushing the limits of culinary creativity.
This time, I made a choice that was a bit outside my usual preferences — I chose chicken liver, something I usually avoid. I decided to give it a try because I trust the restaurant, and as expected, the dish exceeded my expectations. The seasoning, with just the right amount of tanginess, seemed almost to understand why I don’t like chicken liver, but still made it enjoyable for me. The pickles served with it complemented the dish perfectly, adding an extra layer of flavor.
The steak was also excellent. The pairing with sautéed onions worked wonderfully, creating a well-balanced combination of rich flavors. Every bite was satisfying, and the overall taste was well thought out.
This restaurant continues to impress me with its consistency and ability to deliver a high-quality dining experience. It remains one of my top choices, and I’m looking forward to many more...
Read moreGreat experience at the gourmet bistro deli. Food was very good and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Good training there for sure.
Food: I have no complaints really and the dishes were executed very well. As a former chef at a French restaurant it was very nice to see the freshness in the bearnaise sauce. I like when there's lots of the sour component ( vinegar). I understand that they maybe don't sell many portions of the bearnaise hence it was not traditionally made with egg yolk and clarified butter and kept at temperature. They make it so it can be stored in the fridge. Since the flavour was so good I don't actually mind this.
The meat was perfectly cooked, great french fries fried in fresh oil. The beef Wellington was perfect as well. Nice sauce there. Carrots perfectly cooked. Small details like that matter.
We were to full to try a dessert but I have a feeling it would've been great too.
Also very nice thing at this place that I rarely see in Asia, the actual price is listed in the menu and not for eg "10$++". Here they put the net price in the menu which I really appreciate. No"hiding" or tricks which it actually is when other places don't add the for eg 10%VAT and 8% "service". Great detail there and thank you for that.
Well worth a visit if you want steak or any...
Read moreFirst off, they have the best cappuccino I’ve tried in Phnom Penh, surprisingly. They also serve some good baguette!
Food is legit… very classic French dishes. The sauces for the dishes—no matter what you get—are exceptionally well rendered! Though I’ve noticed French food in Phnom Penh lean towards quite salty… perhaps it’s to encourage wine pairings? Desserts didn’t knock my socks off but I suppose that’s not what they’re known for.
Service wasn’t spectacular for lunch. No serving plates for bread for instance… I left a trail of crumbs all over the table. Like c’mon, now we all just look bad. 😶 If you’re putting dedication into ironing your tablecloths, how about we all help each other out to keep them looking clean and pristine? Just sayin’
All in all, not bad prices for what you get.
Edit: went back for dinner and serving plates for bread were offered this time round. Overall...
