Like the nearby Saravoan Techo Pagoda, this place is under renovation as of February 2020, but it's still far more enjoyable than the aforementioned place. However, the main building is out of order, and apparently visitors are not welcome in any of the smaller buildings.

I made that discovery once I came across a smaller building with shrine and cushions. I meditated there, and then was discouraged from being present by some local people who seemingly occupy or work on the upper floor of the building.

Right now if you want to meditate peacefully at a temple in Phnom Penh, your best bet is to go to Wat Botum or perhaps Wat Lanka. This city simply doesn't compare to Bangkok when it comes to having a large quantity of temples - especially ones that are operational, not undergoing renovation, and open...

The temple is quite ok. But BEWARE OF THE TUK TUL DRIVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They offer stg like an hr package to explore the city and i told him no, it’s ok I will walk. Then he start to explain about the things in temple, and i said it’s ok, we will walk around ourselve! But he keep on tagging along and eventually he asked us to take his ride to other places when we said no and walk out of temple he keep accusing us wasting his time?! Im like “what the heck?????” We told him earlier and eventually he asked tips from my bf. After my bf tips him and he said not enough that i have to start argue with all the nonsense that he did!!!!! Eventually I storm off because I am super angry and he stopped following...

Visiting Wat Ounalom Monastery was a deeply enriching experience that offered both spiritual reflection and cultural insight. As I stepped into the temple grounds, the serene atmosphere immediately enveloped me, providing a peaceful retreat from the city's hustle. The intricate architecture and sacred relics, including the revered stupa believed to house a relic of the Buddha, added to the site's profound significance. Observing monks engaged in daily rituals and meditation practices offered a glimpse into the living traditions of Cambodian Buddhism. This visit was not just a sightseeing endeavor but a heartfelt journey into Cambodia's rich...

Wat Ounalom Monastery is a peaceful spot, though there isn’t much to see compared to other major attractions in Phnom Penh. It’s located near the riverside, making it a nice place for a quiet walk, and it’s also close to the National Museum, so it’s easy to combine the two in one visit. While the monastery may not have the same grandeur as others in the city, it offers a serene environment to reflect and enjoy the surrounding area. However, bear in mind that it can get quite hot, so be prepared for the walk if you visit during the daytime. It’s a good stop if you’re nearby and looking for a brief moment of calm.

Wat Ounalom Wat Ounalom (Khmer: វត្តឧណ្ណាលោម; Khmer pronunciation: [ʋɔət ʔunnaːloːm]) (also Wat Unnalom and several other spellings) is a wat located on Sisowath Quay in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, near the Royal Palace of Cambodia.[1] As the seat of Cambodia's Mohanikay order, it is the most important wat of Phnom Penh, and the center of Cambodian Buddhism. It was established in 1443 and consists of 44 structures.[2] It was damaged during the Khmer Rouge period but has since been restored.[2] The main complex houses a stupa that contains what is believed to be an eyebrow hair of Buddha and an inscription in Pali.
