La Bastide de Caro — Hotel in Siem Reap

This is not a 4 star hotel ( more like a hostel) I can’t believe the reviews on the booking.com website. The reception is in the bar which is normally okay but the staff were stressed and running around trying to serve a group at a table in the restaurant and try and check us in at the same time. Although we were patient and were half checked the preference was the individuals in the restaurant which I kinda think was their boss.||It was a fawlty tower’s situation we eventually got our rooms however the place is unkept the grounds around the hotel had dead plants in pots while the stairwell had dirty stairs and the just loads of dead potted plants. The pool is tiny with a few loungers I genuinely felt I was in a hostel.| The shower was rusty and the small balcony had really dusty cushions on dusty chairs |Breakfast was seriously terrible.||I can’t recommend this hotel based on its...

This is a special wee hotel. Staff are incredibly helpful and kind. We booked a balcony room and were unexpectedly upgraded to Room 3 on arrival which is very large and has a garden. It was a very nice surprise as the trip was for my 40th birthday. We didn’t ask for an upgrade - they’re just very generous here 😊. We came in September which is the very quiet season and had the whole place to ourselves. |The pool is small and picturesque. The hotel grounds are also compact and stunning. Everything is immaculately clean. We loved Napoleon the cat!|We booked an incredible Khmer massage through the hotel. We also visited the elephant sanctuary and Ankor Wat through the hotel. They took care of everything and we felt in safe hands throughout. |What a wonderful place. I stayed at La Bastide de Caro for 3 days, Jan 2024. The room was very large, modern, well equipped and clean. The restaurant was amazing! Breakfast was included, and I ate every dinner there. Other restaurants are an easy walk but this restaurant had amazing atmosphere (overlooks a beautiful swimming pool) and beautiful gardens. I ordered an omelette every breakfast, it was too good to try something else. Breakfast comes with a fresh made fruit juice, a fresh fruit plate, fresh rolls and a homemade baked good, as well as coffee. The dinners were 5 star fine dining. Delicious and beautiful presentation. An amazing chef! The staff is very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend La Bastide de Caro, for a Siem Reap stay, close to the sights...
