Me stomp into the place with the long name! "Angkor Hand-Pulled Noodles and Dumplings" they say? Me not know what that means... is the peon staff fighting the noodles? Me watch.
Oooooooh! The noodles are a VICTORY! Me can TASTE the work! Chewy, strong, perfect noodle rope! They make them right here, fresh! D.Cookiemaw approve! Me want to eat a GIANT mountain of these strong noodles every moon! OM NOM NOM! They speak to my peon heart.
The dumplings? YES! Little pockets of flavor! Me grunt happy sounds while chewing! Food makes D.Cookiemaw mighty!
BUT WAIT! A BETRAYAL! Me need strong drink to wash down strong noodles! Me look for good coffee... Me sip... BLAH! Coffee taste like swamp water! No strong hug! No magic! Just SADNESS in a cup!
Other drinks? Sticky, fizzy sugar water! NO! D.Cookiemaw no like softdrink! Peon needs coffee, or maybe icy, frothy monster milk! The bad drinks make me stomp out with less coins than I want to. Peon heart hurts.
This is the struggle! Best noodles in the land... but worst drinks! It make D.Cookiemaw come here less often! Peon cannot survive on water and fizzy stuff!
Final Grunt? You MUST go for the noodles! They are worth the journey! But for your drink... bring your own magic potion!
Me give this place four crumbs out of five. (One crumb taken away for the weak,...
Read moreI was pretty disappointed with the western availability in Siem Reap. It’s a city that’s bowed down to the west for their home comforts in Turkish, Italian, Spanish etc. Even the Cambodian noodle joints are screaming for the tourist menus which actually offer Thai.
To find anything simple, original and authentic is genuinely harder than you think.
But THIS PLACE, sticks to its guns. SUPERB.
There is about 10 things on the menu, as a food writer and former chef, the less I see on a menu, then usually the better the outcome and quality of the dishes served.
I am SO happy with the noodle soup I had here, the noodles were fresh, soft and tasty and the broth was superb. The dumplings I had steamed, a mix of duck/chicken/ pork were wonderfully fragranced with Lemongrass and ginger and I had a side of rice/tofu and morning glory (Needed the green)
Overall a FANTASTIC meal, simple, healthier, great quality VERY flavourful and not full of tourists. It’s so nice to have experienced this venue and the food it’s served, I really hope more people come here and appreciate...
Read moreGreat value for money, delicious food, friendly staff and a nice story behind the chef’s work.
We had noodles with egg and chicken - super well seasoned and delicious - and also sesame and honey chicken with rice, which was lovely!
We also ordered steamed dumplings, which, for our surprise, were not great.. we ordered it before everything else and it arrived after the main dishes and was not as tasteful as we expected, so my advice here would be to order it fried.
Food took a little while to arrive but keep in mind this is a family business.. and rest assured you eat simple, delicious food!
We came back for lunch but even though it says on google they open at 11, they arrived at 11:15.. and only then they started cleaning up the place. Either this was a one-time issue or the opening hours should be...
