I feel like I need to share what happened during my stay because of how poorly it was handled. Itâs long, but Iâll try to make it concise. After a very smooth check in process, I went up to my room which turned out to be directly in front of the elevators. The hotel seemed empty so I donât know why they gave me the worst location on the floor but I was only there for a night with a friend (who wasnât there yet) so I thought whatever. About half an hour later, I was in my room, and heard a knock on the door. As I was reaching for the door handle to answer it, I heard the sound of keys - a staff member ALREADY HAD HIS KEYS IN THE LOCK and had manually unlocked the door before I could actually answer it! He looked shocked that there was someone in the room and confused asking me if I requested to change rooms? No, I definitely did not - completely shocked I quickly shut the door while throwing the do not disturb sign on that I regretted not putting on in the first place. I called the front desk immediately and they said they would investigate what happened. After awhile a manager called me back and asked what happened again. After I told them, the manager was very quick to say that it was a âhuman errorâ (over and over) but never actually apologized or acknowledged in any way that what happened was a MAJOR safety and privacy issue. What if I had been bumming around in the nude? In the shower? She then tried to minimize it even further by saying it was okay because it was a staff member! What?? Itâs just wild to me that this was not taken more seriously. I should be able to feel safe in my room without the risk of being intruded on at any given moment. Big YIKES. ||I received 50% of our money back for the night but I didnât think this was even close to making up for what happened, especially since the hotel refused to take any responsibility for violating my privacy. I understand that accidents happen, but if you get into a car accident and itâs your fault you still have to pay for the damage you caused, it doesnât mean that it...
Read moreOur extended family of 8 spent 3 nights at the Calgary Mariott South. The staff was the best feature of the hotel by far. The decor and light in the rooms and lobby were also very inviting and the room comfortable. The gym was roomy with multiple machines and a television as well as towels. Laundry services would be very welcome on a longer stay. The pool slide and hot tub were well enjoyed.
Overall it was a comfortable stay although a few things need to be mentioned. There were multiple hockey and lacrosse teams staying there with their families (children aged 7 - 10 I think). In the evening there were many young, exuberant children running, unsupervised in the halls and staircases and traveling up and down in the elevators. They were loud and in some cases disrespectful.
The breakfast, the only meal we experienced, was meagre, possibly due to the appetites of the athletes staying there.
Our bathroom had a clear construction/plumbing issue that stemmed from the toilet hole being placed so close to the wall that it was inconvenient to sit on it unless you removed the toilet paper from the dispenser.
In my room the plumbing issue has to do with the handle controlling the temperature in the shower. It is weighted to heavily on the end and did not maintain the set temperature as the handle would gravitate downwards immediately after I removed my hand from it, making the temperature get hotter and hotter very quickly. I had to shower with my hand on the handle to prevent being scalded. (This was in the executive suite.) As well, there was a stain on the tile floor outside our shower when we arrived (coffee or rust from under the shower lip - I am not sure). It was cleaned better the next day. We would also have appreciated a non-breakable glass in the bathroom.
After the young athletes retired for the evening I found the hotel very quiet despite its proximity to the new...
Read moreWhile the weekend of the wedding the team at the front were very helpful, the restaurant did a great job. And Barret tried his best to correct issues and make sure we were happy. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are great. I had a TON of issues. As a bride the first women I delt with was incredibly helpful and on it. I think her name was Laura. Her replacement never emailed me to say she was replaced. After we had rooms blocked for our wedding. I only found out after sending emails and waiting days for responses. She was kind of rude and not helpful at all until I expressed that I was unhappy and her lack of help was unacceptable for the event we are having. Doing anything with the team was like pulling teeth. The room I originally asked for was not given as the bridal sweet to get ready in slash honeymoon suite for my to be husband and I. The room however was Beautiful. And the congratulations desert was kind. The pricing on rooms was good and all of our guests were happy with the accommodations. The day of the wedding I pre ordered a list of food and coffee beverages to come at certain times for the bridal party. The hotel had forgotten about them and everything came over an hour late. And then there was stuff added to the list that I didn't approve or ask for. When the food and coffee came is was delicious, it also had a 20% grat imcluded after forgetting our order. But not a problem I need to solve on my wedding day. We requested a steamer and extra table to make the room work for make up and hair. That was brought up in a timely manner. I asked for it to be removed for the 230pm clean so we have the room back in honeymoon state. It was never done. The shower handle didn't work right. But the rest of the bathroom was amazing. With the management team working, I would never have another event at this hotel. I would however come back for a simple stay, dealing with the...
