Stayed here for 6 nights in July. Location was great - restaurants/fast food close by, coffee shops nearby, close to Walmart and Costco, a shopping village is super close by.
Room was great (loved that the bathroom had 2 doors - one for the little room the toilet was in and a separate door to enter the bathroom, this made it convenient for others to still be able to use the washroom sink or shower at the same time as someone who might need to use the restroom 🚽). Staff were friendly and welcoming - always greeted us when we were coming and going. AC worked great. Lots of storage space in our room and loved the lighting and USB/USBC charging ports built into the wall next to the beds.
My only few complaints are that we had 2 small 10-14 pound Shih Tzus with us and it was $150 extra for them to stay with us (it's $30 per day per dog, but upon arriving we were told since they're so small they'd only charge us for one - but I was still shocked at the cost, as every other hotel I've stayed at usually charges a flat rate of an extra $20-$50 for both dogs together for the ENTIRE stay, not per day). Second complaint is that there was literally 1 small patch of grass at the end of the parking lot right next to a car wash drive thru/busy parking lot for an A&W, Tim Hortons, Liquor Store, Convenience Store. There was lots of areas that could have been grass but instead were filled in with small rocks. All the dogs from the hotel had to use this small patch of grass so it sucked for people who had reactive dogs or if you went to take your dog(s) out to pee and there was already 3-4 other people out there with their dogs. Definitely need more grass around the hotel.
The garbage cans outside of the entrance doors could be changed a little more often as a few times garbage was overflowing and falling onto the ground/blowing around. Also the area you drive past the A&W parking lot towards the hotel is littered with trash - I know it might not be Sandman who owns that area, but I'd be contacting whoever owns that area and requesting it to be regularly cleaned as you have to drive through there to get to the hotel and it connects to the Sandman parking lot. LOTS of trash on the ground.
Very pricey hotel, but it is nice. Would love to see guests have some sort of discount at Denny's, considering the amount of money it costs to stay here and there is no free breakfast included.
Great pool, amazing hot tub and water slide was fun. Love the loungers and comfy chairs that are around. There was always clean pool towels available. The hotel felt cozy. Our room had a kitchenette and it was great. Was happily surprised that dishes, cookware and utensils were provided.
I also loved the added security of needing a room key card in order to get the elevator to go up from the ground floor.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay. Would I book again? If it was a bit cheaper or if breakfast was included in the price,...

I recently stayed at Sandman Signature Hotel in Dartmouth with my fiancé and our five children to celebrate my son’s birthday, having previously enjoyed our stays at the Delta in Dartmouth. Unfortunately, our experience this time was far from satisfactory.
Upon arrival at 3 PM, we encountered a long line that extended out the door, resulting in a 45-minute wait for check-in. When I finally reached the front desk, I was informed that one of our conjoined rooms would not be ready for another 30 minutes due to cleaning delays. This was particularly frustrating as we needed that room to set up for the birthday celebration. My fiancé spent an hour driving around with our 5 children while we waited.
When we were finally able to settle into our room, I was disappointed by the cleanliness. As someone with experience in hotel housekeeping, I noticed there was water in the kettle from the previous guest, confetti on the floor, and wrappers from containers of slime. Additionally, there were no carts available to help us transport our belongings and dinner to our room.
We requested a reimbursement for one of the rooms due to these issues, which the hotel honored. However, the problems continued. When we opened the sofa bed for our twins, we found what appeared to be hair on the bed. In the closet, we discovered hats and mittens left behind by previous guests, indicating inadequate cleaning.
We also requested two playpens for our twins, but after a 45-minute wait, we received only one. After a follow-up call, we finally received the second playpen, but upon inspection, we found a dirty plastic spoon inside. This was the last straw for us, and we demanded a refund for both rooms, which was granted, along with an offer for a complimentary stay that we declined.
Moreover, the noise levels were quite disruptive due to thin walls, and the hotel was hosting a hockey tournament, leading to children screaming and playing in the hallways. The pool area was overcrowded, making it difficult to supervise our children safely.
While the hotel itself has a nice layout, the overall experience was disappointing, especially for a special occasion. Based on our experience and similar feedback from other guests, I cannot recommend this hotel. I suggest considering alternatives such as an Airbnb or returning to the Delta in Burnside, where we have always had positive experiences.
During our stay in rooms 205-207, we observed significant paint splatter from the ceiling on the surrounding walls. Additionally, the fire sprinklers appeared to be improperly installed, and there was a noticeable cold draft entering the rooms from this hole.
Overall, I hope the hotel can address these issues for...
Read moreNeeded a quick place to stay, ended up booking through Hotwire for the same price I would’ve paid directly from the hotel (error on my part for not checking prior, I was just tired and wanted somewhere to go right then) Staff at the desk upon arrival were not friendly or welcoming, very strong cigarette and cologne odour coming from the person who served me as well which was off putting. Check in took a while, the awkward silence likely made it worse. Eventually got to the room which was fine upon a Quick Look. Once getting into the bed, I noticed there were black hairs all over the pillows and inside the bed. Not sure if they were facial, chest or pubic but didn’t appear to be head hair. Called to notify and they switched rooms right away which was great. New bed was clean. Very noisy, it felt like I was in someone’s unfinished basement (was on the 4th floor) next to their water system with exposed piping. Every flush, shower, you name it. I could hear everything from people above and around me- conversations, footsteps, movement, doors opening and closing (so clear it actually sounded as though they were entering my room on more than one occasion) coughing, everything. Very loud middle eastern music coming from the parking lot multiple times throughout the Sunday night I stayed. Upon getting ready in the morning, I realized I had left a perfume, face wash and face cream in my original room. Called down to the desk multiple times with no answer, finished getting ready and went down to speak to someone. This was 6:30 am, waited approximately 10 minutes for someone to arrive (and there were multiple people behind me also waiting) and asked if anything was turned in from my original room. The attendant was annoyed, said he would go look and started helping the next person. He then said I could go look myself and handed me a master key. I checked the room, my items were not there. Weird as I left the room around 9:30pm and he said house keeping wasn’t in yet and they’d call me if they find anything- I’m not expecting a call. All in all I...
