Well it's been a long almost a year and a half since the world pandemic began, and my wife and I were very tired. It was time to get out and have some quality time together in a restaurant we have enjoyed many times in the past. The weather was nice, after a nice drive we secured reservations at the nearest keg to our location, Dartmouth Crossing. Arrived just before our reservation and were seated immediately. We received a very cozy romantic booth in the corner, and we appreciate it. We were asked to use the QR code and check in to the keg with first name last name and phone number for tracing if required, regarding covid-19. We were also asked to use a QR code accessing an email on our personal cell phones for ordering. The number one shared item in a restaurant, and leaving cross-contamination source, is reused menus. We were glad to see the change.
Monica was our server, and she did a wonderful job, kept my wife giggling and that made me happy.
We both received our meals and they both looked delicious and tasted delicious. My steak was done as requested and melted in my mouth, it's been a while since I tasted a steak that good, glad to be back!
After our table was cleared and drinks were refreshed and topped up, she told us that we had a special dessert coming, we stated we had little or no room left for dessert, but she said in light of your anniversary, it's on us! When the Billy Miner Pie arrived, it was quite Hardy has desserts go. We were not long digging in sharing this deliciousness, the caramel, the chocolate drizzles, the fudge on the bottom and ice cream on the top, a killer combination, we loved it!
I included a pic of our receipt to show the out the door pricing, to help you out. We were very satisfied with the lovely meal combined with nice atmosphere and great personnel from the greeter, to the hostess, to the waitress and maitre d, a great experience all around!
We solidly recommend the keg as a great place for a great meal, for any occasion, you cannot go...
Read moreWe celebrate our anniversary each year at The Keg; this was our first year celebrating in Nova Scotia so we were glad to find a location nearby. The restaurant's parking lot was a bit tricky to find if you're not familiar with the area. We were greeted right in front of the door, and given very clear instructions. The manager led us right to our table and gave is a bit of a map of the place. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and well laid out. I had forgotten how much I miss dining out! They really do have an effective plan in place to help keep their customers and staff safe. They no longer provide physical menus; instead, you scan a QR code to find them online.
Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable; she was quite quick with her service and attentive, too. I've always loved the Keg's bread so that was a winner for me for sure. We had the ahi tuna and avocado stack and it was 10/10 delicious and well presented, too. It is obvious that the chef there takes pride in their work. I would highly recommend this appetizer.
I usually get the rice as a side but decided to branch out and try a new one - vegetable gnocchi. While the server mentioned it was a staff favourite, it just wasn't for me and I likely wouldn't order it again. My steak was cooked perfectly and was an excellent cut of meat. My husband's was slightly overcooked for his liking, but he said it was still very tasty. I stole a bit of his twice baked potato and it was excellent!
I had mentioned on our reservation that it was our anniversary, and a few people had stopped by to share their well wishes which was very sweet. They even offered us dessert to celebrate, which, had we not been so full, we would have taken them up on it! There was a bit of a mix up with our bill, but they were apologetic and worked quickly to fix it; it just calculated taxes and tip quite a bit higher than we would have expected. Overall, a good experience and we...
Read moreTried here for dinner at 5:45 on a winter Saturday. Glad that we made reservations because the parking lot was full, and people were filling the lobby waiting for seats. (we got right in :) ). Very friendly service from Blair, I believe his name was. The atmosphere is standard Keg vibe, quite dark, huge overall, mix of booths & tables, nice but simple decor. The free bread is a cute mini loaf, warm out of the oven with some whipped butter. We each ordered off the Classic steak menu so the meals came with a pretty large Caesar salad to start that had a good strong, garlic flavor, but not too overpowering. The bread & salad alone would be more than enough for lunch, and half filled me up for dinner. For the entree I tried their bacon-wrapped filet mignon, 7oz, done medium well, and it was quite good. I'm not much of a steak eater so inexperienced with differentiating the cuts, but this was tender, juicy, very satisfying. Comes with side veg of red pepper, green beans, mushrooms, which were done very well and tasty. Side of twice baked potato really topped off the meal for quantity and I could barely finish it, although it was delicious with bacon pieces cooked inside it as well. Came with a bearnaise sauce on the side, which I drizzled on some of the potato. My friend had the New York striploin medium well and liked it a lot. He requested it with peppercorn, which was no issue. It had a stronger taste for that reason, and came with a side of a whiskey gravy pepper sauce? That was delicious, especially on the garlic mashed side. I was so full from this meal that I went home to bed, but really look forward to getting back here soon to try...
