What sets Marzano apart is the chef's ingenious use of subtle, mysterious ingredients that elevate the flavors to extraordinary heights. It's a delightful journey for the taste buds, as you savor each bite and unravel the layers of intricate flavors.

Now, let's talk about their thin-crust Italian-style pizza—the crown jewel of Marzano's menu. If you're a first-time visitor, this is an absolute must-try. A splendid meal option in Nelson. We had looked at Marzanos ahead of a trip to Nelson and were intrigued by the interior decorations as well as the pizza oven…how could you go wrong? And we were right. We visited twice over a four day stop in Nelson. The first was for lunch and that was the best time to try their pizzas. It was fun to watch the prep including the stretching of the dough and you can watch how they dress and cook the pizzas in the oven. Both pizzas were superb. We returned on another evening for dinner where we had the halibut and the guanciale main dishes. All were great but we think we preferred the pizza, not that there was anything wrong with the main dishes but they just so filling. I also had the mushroom soup when I had the guanciale pasta so perhaps that is why I was so full. The soup was very good and I wonder if the mushrooms were locally foraged. We shared the raspberry pana cotta…ok, maybe that’s why I was so full. It was extremely tasty and one of the best raspberry desserts I’ve ever had with very intense flavours. On both visits we each had aperol and campari spritzes which were also a delight. It was a quiet relaxing lunch but the dinner hours are quite busy which is a reflection on how popular the place is for an evening dinner. We did enjoy watching the staff performing all their duties in a very efficient manner. Some former staff were by for the evening and their was a lot of hugging going on so you can tell they are all having a great time, which means you probably will too. We highly...

Beautiful Italian restaurant tucked away at the far end or beginning of Baker Street with the best classic Italian pizza in Nelson. We didn't have a reservation, so chose the pizza bar and watched many pizzas being prepared. The passionfruit Italian soda was sweet and tasty - I recommend as a mocktail. I do wish there were fancier mocktail options to match all the complicated cocktails. For date night, we shared a squid appetizer. The sauce was great, but kind of wishing we tried the meatballs instead. The pizza stole the show, though. Dough is fresh, the sauce well balanced, and high end toppings make the difference here. The wood fired oven is carefully monitored and maintained throughout the evening. If you want a spicy add on, use the chili oil. Packs a lot of heat! To end the evening, we shared a tiramisu mousse. Creamy, thick, delicious and beautifully presented. Perfect date night. Update: made a reservation for a large group and it was a great success. Every pizza was perfect, and one person had spaghetti and meat balls (no picture, but it looked do good I think I'll try it next time). Guava italian soda was not very sweet, but good flavour. Prosciutto pizza had a lot of arugula, and prosciutto. I think I preferred the burrata from the time before. Tirasmisu mousse was just as creamy and delicious as last visit - highly recommend saving...

We had the most amazing time at this place. We had pizza, salad, soup, everything was very very good, but the real highlight is the way the server approached the kids orders: she proposed bringing them a ball of pizza dough to play with (a 50 cent investment really, absolutely brilliant!) and pushed their orders through the kitchen with priority, so they had play, food, more play while the adults ate with comfort and relax. We ended up being in no hurry since the kids were entertained so we ordered a dessert as well, which turned out to be nothing short of excellent. Bringing kids to a restaurant is usually a somewhat daunting task and can end up being the low point of the day during vacations sometimes, especially if you ran late for it and kids are tired and cranky. In some places you get entertainment for the kids, but usually the experience is not as good for the parents, or the food isn't really good, it tends to be a short blanket: you cover your head and uncover your feet kinda deal, you never get everything.. Except at Marzano. Food is outstanding, decor is delightful and airy, pricing is not cheap but competitive given the high quality, service is absolutely SUPERIOR. This restaurant exceeded any reasonable expectation. Bravo.

Espresso Martinis at Marzano (Or, How We Found Heaven in a Coupe Glass) It was one of those nights that starts with a casual “let’s just have one” and ends with you declaring undying love for a drink, a vibe, and a man named Paulie. Paulie—our server, our spirit guide, our blue-nailed brother-in-arms—moved through Marzano with the kind of divine purpose usually reserved for saints or extremely well-styled baristas in Milan. He was working his butt off—trays balanced, smiles dished out, cocktails delivered without a drop spilled, but never once looked frazzled. No. Paulie looked like an angel. An espresso-scented, perfectly-coiffed angel with matching blue nails and a work ethic that could make a Swiss watchmaker weep. And the martinis? Oh, the espresso martinis. Rich, velvety, and laced with just enough bite to remind you that you’re alive—and very glad to be. Each sip was a small, decadent rebellion against mediocrity. It was dessert, it was fuel, it was flirtation in a glass. The crema sat on top like a promise. Marzano doesn’t just serve espresso martinis. They serve moments. They serve Paulie. Ask for him by name. Cheers with matching nails. Stay until the last shake of the shaker.
